It's gochugaru - which means it's always delicious! This is a nice size bottle (and a *nice* bottle! It looks so pretty in my spice cabinet). The spice arrived fresh, and is an excellent addition to so many different dishes. Great value for money - will repurchase when I run out!

First time using this spice and by itself it has an amazing flavor. I thought it might be spicy hot but it wasn’t. I’m use to cayenne pepper which is spicy hot. This spice has mild heat with a tremendous favor. I used it an a cucumber salad and the favor kind of got lost. Looking forward to using it on more dishes.

Was looking for milder pepper flakes for Chili paste for Kimchi. Ordered this because it didn't say, "HOT Gochugaru." It is PERFECT on the Scovilles - maybe 2000? - but I like mine with a bit of a bite. I didn't taste bite much at all with this - my tastebuds are shot after living in Arizona for 50 years and indulging in some of the hottest designer peppers in the Universe - but it was sweet and oh, so perfectly chili tasting. If I want more heat, I'll add my own. I grow some of the hottest peppers on the planet, just because the plants and fruits are beautiful. I dry them and use them for SW Christmas tree decorations, I kid you not! I HIGHLY recommend this vendor and I guarantee you, I WILL be ordering other spices from them. The service was prompt, the packaging was secure - and I don't have to go to Penzey's Spices to find what I want/need anymore! Plus, they always send a little teaser sample. I guess they can read a sucker when the order comes through. :-)

As somebody who can't stand anything really spicy, it's a relief to see a Korean chili pepper option that is actually mild compared to other normally really spicy Korean options. The Scoville units for this Korean chili pepper tastes as though it's around 500 - 1000 or even milder than that. I don't know if I have a different bottle, but I saw myself adding around a quarter teaspoon to a half teaspoon of it to enjoy its flavor. It tastes like smoked Spanish paprika but with a more earthier kick. This is definitely worth a try, but I am docking it a star considering the value for what you get.

This spice is fantastic. It adds an earthy flavor to any recipe. It has mild heat but tons of flavor!!!

I like that it's not overly hot and has a unique fresh flavor.
