I wouldn’t buy any other brand!
Great product durable, works perfect, and stays looking good forever. I have been buying these and the 4” ones for different boats. Sea dog has always impressed me with the make and quality of all their products since I first tried them out years ago.

Using it for a heavy attic door
We have a full size, heavy solid door leading to our attic, and there's a whole house fan behind that door. Previously, we were propping open the door with a chair, as a regular door stop wasn't able to hold the heavy door open, especially with the fan on. After a friend recommended it, we bought this door stop. Though it isn't exactly intended for its current use, it is doing the job and has made it so much easier for us to open the door without having to drag over a heavy chair to prop the door open! The only thing is that the moulding around the door frame makes it so the door does not get very close to the wall, so we had to install the door stop and catch about 2" in from the outside edge of the door. This means that we have to carefully reach in to unlatch it. I wish that it stuck out about 1" more from the wall; then we could have installed the latch in an easier to access location. If your door is able to swing all the way open such that the handle hits the wall, you should not have this problem. Overall, great, heavy-duty product and we're so glad we got it!

Functions well
Sturdy piece of hardware. At first, it took extra force low on the door to engage the latch. I think it was breaking in the rubber tip. The second year, it works smoothly and catches the door easily. It has never released the door expectantly when being slammed by a wake or sea on the Chesapeake on a 30-foot sailboat.

Well made door stop and catch.
We use this stop and catch on a very heavy door on our boat. It is very well made and sturdy and does the job.

Broke within 6 months
The latch spring broke and will not hold the door open. Less than 6 months in the water

Great upgrade to the biat
Easy install. Better than the old hook style because they catch automatically and hold the door tightly enough that it doesn’t clank as the boat moves
