This thing is da'bom!
Makita, did an outstanding job with this heat gun. It's surprisingly quiet. Feels good in the hand. The cord is nicely flexible. My old one would crawl, by itself, across the bench because of it's stiff crummy cord. This Makita is Splendid. It's cool, (er HOT), to be able to thumb-up the heat number and actually see light start reflecting off what you're heating as the heating element starts glowing yellow hot. This is one of those rare tools that you actually take delight in, whenever an opportunity to use it arises.

Serious tool, works great!
This is a really great heat gun. Took me a while to figure out that the fan speed was separate to the heating power. Heat is adjusted on the back where the air comes in, the fan speed is adjusted on the grip. This thing is built to do some serious work and it gets serious when you put it on kill. My last gun was a good old Weller, and while it was a 5 star gun, this is better than the old Weller.

Burnt out after two uses. OWNERS MANUAL that came with it was ONLY Chinese (No English Section).
Used it twice to heat automotive decals to peel off. On the second time I used it (just after the 30 day warranty), the RPM of the electric motor raced and since then it only blows COLD air now. MY OWNERS MANUAL that came with it was ONLY Chinese (No English Section). I personally would not recommend this item (I am very familiar with heat guns).

Good while it lasted
Does what it's supposed to...for three months and then the heating element burns out. I've purchased about six of these over the years. The last three haven't lasted more than 6 months. I'm switching to Milwaukee.

It's Quality All the Way Around.
It's that the controls are easily accessible on one hand.

New Model Makita Heat Gun is a Step Backwards from the Old
I dripped my older Makita 100V heat gun one too many times, and the ceramic core for the heating element finally broke into pieces. To be fair, it gave great service for over a decade, and was dropped "more than once" <g>. I just tried out the new Makita I ordered to replace it, and though it's lighter and the temp control dial is a bit easier to use, I'm pretty disappointed in the airflow and heat output, significantly less airflow than the previous model, the "High" position on the new heat gun moves about as much air as the "Low" position on the older one. As I am a self-admitted Makita fanboy, I'll keep it, but it's the first time I've been a bit disappointed in a Makita purchase.
