I'm in love this this tool.
I have been in the market for a good belt grinder for a while and have been looking at the Beaumont and Grizzly offerings but I just couldn't afford them, then I came across this item.I will say that the set up isn't easy, and my parts box came all jumbled (which was disappointing because the parts box itself looks like it is going to be super organized and awesome, but when I opened it all of the pieces had gotten mixed up.I will say that getting everything lined up on my grinder was a little bit of a pain in the butt. The space between the bolts that hold the arm and the wheel that turns the belts is pretty short and it is hard to get a wrench in there so keeping them at the perfect space of just tight enough that it won't move easily but loose enough that you can adjust it, but once you get it all lined up and tightened down everything stays in place well. The videos helping assembly made everything much easier. Now that it is up and going I am in love with this tool, though. While it doesn't have the power that it's bigger brothers may have it still works great for most projects.

Perfect for the hobbyist
I could not afford a real belt grinder, so after much research, I decided to try out the multi-tool attachment. Assembly was pretty easy and I did not run into any stumbling blocks. Once installed, I threw on the included belt, adjusted the tracking and was sanding within seconds. I purchased some 4x36 belts, cut them in half (saves a lot of $$) and used the multi-tool to grind out a knife I forged. I also used it to sand and shape the full-tang wooden handle I attached to the blade and I was very, very happy with the performance and results I achieved. I am working on my second blade and really don't have any complaints yet; just praise. I was very surprised with how easy it was to use and how well it has performed so far.

Good for a hobbyist, not for professionals
My first complaint about this grinder is that it came with no instructions. Assembly is required, and since all grinder motors are different, fitment of this attachment is not necessarily intuitive. That said, I was able to think my way through the installation and all the various bolts and washers that were NOT needed...there's star 1.My second complaint is when grinding, the belt wanders from one side of the assembly to the other...without provocation...it does this on its own. This makes using the edge of the platen wheel a bit sketchy because the belt will move while grinding a bevel and your knife blade will be grinding on the rubber. Premature wear-out is sure to happen. Despite my best efforts to adjust this, I have been unsuccessful. Instructions may have helped, but I doubt it...there's star 2.On a positive note, the unit is sturdy...much better than Harbor Freight stuff. The three different belt grinding surfaces are great, each useful in their own right (I did not install the disc as there is no need at this time for it).The 2X36 belts are expensive so I hatched a plan to cut one of my 4X36's from a different grinder down the middle, thereby creating two for the price of one. It worked like a charm. This is how I plan to buy belts from now on.I used the machine for about an hour and half grinding a tomahawk head and then the wood handle. Overall I am pleased with the performance (aside from the shifting belt). The 120 grit belt that it came with moved both metal and wood quite well. My homemade 400 grit belt put on the finish I was looking for. I suppose for the money spend it's a good value...but I'm just a hobbyist with moderate expectations. This is certainly NOT a professional's tool...too much tolerance in the belt-pitch adjustment.Update...So I returned the defective Multitool and got a new one. The belt is tracking and runs true! Thank you Amazon for a hassle-free return, and especially thank you to Multitool for the trouble shooting help! Just upped the rating to four stars.

Definitely worth buying for all skill levels and jobs.
Bought this for my husband as he is just getting into blacksmithing and knife making. After researching many different sharping machines, we really needed something that worked well but was in our price range especially for just starting blacksmithing. And this product is perfect not only in price but performance. During our research, we found many other knife makers using this grinder, and we see why. Plus the sandpaper is cheaper than the much larger grinders. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. Side note, my husband also has a smaller hp powered motor attached to it (smaller than recommended) but it still works beautifully. Looking for larger motor in future but till then, this grinder honestly does a great job as is.

Slightly Pricey, but Very Well Constructed
Item was delivered well packaged, and expeditiously. With regard to the tool itself, I have used one of these many times in the past and have found it to be ridged, well constructed and easy to use.

Awesome Grinder
An awesome grinder attachment. It was easy to attach I didn't need any other hardware or major adjustment. Had it on and ready to go in under 30 minutes. This has made my blade grinding easier and faster. From bevels to putting that fine edge on a blade this does it all.
