the amazonas hammock is one of the most comfortable I have slept in. I own three, ticket to the moon, a dd travel hammock and an adventurer. I have also tried the eno eagles nest. This beats all of them; it is incredibly light and packs down very small, has an integrated bugnet (not scottish midge proof!), and integrated stuff sack. The hammock is set up with a slight curve and is slept in at an angle to give a very flat 'lay'.It dosent come with suspension ropes, but I have some amsteel whoopee slings I made (dd hammocks sell by the meter, or the slings ready made) There are many you tube videos explaining use of these, and making them.The bugnet hangs from a piece of shock cord and works really well, you may need to add a small stick at 90 deg and clip the bugnet so it stays off your face, but not a huge problem.The hammock is made from parachute like material, very thin and strong, you may want to add a heat reflector pad beneath or inside your sleeping bag for a cosy nights sleep on chilly nights. You will also need a tarp if you are camping.All in all, really pleased with the hammock and recommend it.

I bought two of these, not for treking through the Amazon but for sleeping outdoors in Ukraine during the summer where I am building a house.I'm giving it four stars as I have nothing to compare it with. Overall it did the job....The item is very light and compact and can be put back in its bag after use. You will need some extra rope to attach the two ends to your tree/wall/cement mixer. It is tricky getting in and out - its a hammock. Not terribly comfortable unless you are used to sleeping in a banana shaped curve. But this may have been just because I wasn't used to it and it is much more comfortable to lie in than a tent on uneven ground. Keeping the attaching ropes tighter than you might have expected helps with the banana issue. You can fit a sleeping bag inside if you want. The netting zips up completely and no bugs managed to bite me - usually a serious problem at this location as there are lots of mosquitoes and some surprisingly large spiders. I used a large transparent sheet of plastic to cover the whole thing when it rained (not included). Worked fine but my breathing cause some condensation and dampness. I weigh 84 kg and it didn't break until my children tried to get in and fell out. This is not a toy. The upper netting is not as tough as the lower supporting part and the children ripped it when they fell out. Somewhere to keep your torch/smartphone/snake repellent spray inside when zipped up would be handy as anything you have slides to the lowest point while you are asleep. If you are planning to regularly pack and unpack it, the supporting strings at each end tend to get tangled easily. It offers no protection against the elements on its own other than insect/spider barrier. So if the weather is very hot, it is better than a tent as it feels like you are sleeping outside and you feel every breeze.Very pleased overall.

So, I ordered this off Amazon for my return to Sierra Leone and needed it within 3 days. The package was delivered by the producer, not amazon, so the only available delivery option was "normal".I then noticed that the "arrival date" had changed to cover a 6-day period (incl. 4 days after my departure from London), so I contacted Amazonas through Amazon.com asking them to ensure swift delivery. I received a response within two hours assuring me it would arrive on time and it arrived at my mates place (I was just passing through London) the day after. Wonderful service!The hammock itself is really practical. You pack into a small bag which is easy to bring along to most trips. The weight is also limited. It's really easy to set up (took me about 7-8 minutes the first time I tried) and just really convenient when avoiding mosquitos and camping alone or as part of a multi-tent group.I didn't sleep too well the first night, but I think that's a matter of getting used to it.1 point: no cover, so remember to bring something extra if camping outside on rainy days!In sum though, I love it!

It is a comfortable and very cheap hammock and the unique tie off (not gathered ends, but a myriad web of strings which pull the hammock out) allow for a flatter lay. There are pocket inside for valuables, torch etc.My criticisms are... The mosquito net is not strong. The loops that hold it up snapped on my 3rd outing. Easy mend but inconvenient. The strings on either end which allow for a flatter lay tangle very easily and are impossible to untangle. The suspension (a simple loop) is unconventional although a carabiner that attaches it to tree huggers or whoopi slings suffices.

Had a wonderful sleep, the only thing I would change is the strings, i have modified it with some dyneema as a hoop so that I can use it with some slings and caribiners

I am very happy with this product so far. The only reason I have not given it 5 stars is that I a waiting to see what its durability is like after a number of camping trips. The mosquito net works nicely and is easy to set up.It is also fairly cheap for quite a nice product.
