Much better than I expected
There are not many Scandinavian great swords to choose from, and this is by far the cheapest. It is a third the cost of the Darksword Armory, and a tenth of the cost of an Albion. This sword has a couple of issues, but I am pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of it for this price. It is definitely worth the cost.Cosmetically, the sword could have been better, but it is perfectly acceptable at this price point. The pommel is ground a little unevenly and doesn't quite match up to the grip, but not enough to feel while swinging around. The polish on the blade is also not very even, and there are a couple of scuffs on the cross guard, but that will correct itself over time with cleaning and polishing after use. Other than those two issues, the sword looks pretty good. One issue that is more than just cosmetic is the wire wrap. It is very loose, and is actually affecting my grip on the sword. I will need to redo it before doing any serious cutting with it, but I purchased this as a project sword and was planning to redo the wire wrap in copper at some point anyway. Based on other reviews, this doesn't seem to be an issue with every sword, but is common enough to expect a loose wrap. The scabbard is plain and boring, but functional. It is not a plastic scabbard like the description says, but a wooden scabbard with a thick matte finish that feels plastic like. This is preferable in my opinion. I plan on making a leather wrapped scabbard for it, but the scabbard that came with it will work well until then. What really surprised me was the blade. It came sharp-ish, and took a while to get as sharp as I wanted do to the length. After that, it cut very well. I have no training in great sword, but even with my dubious abilities, I was able to do combination cuts on tatami mats without any issues. The blade profile is great, and the sword is surprisingly well balanced. The overall weight with the scabbard is 6.9 lbs, 6.13 lbs without the scabbard. I have no idea why the picture in the add says 12 lbs. As far as I can tell, this is the same sword that is out of stock on Kult of Athena and several other sites. Using those descriptions as a point of reference, the cross guard and pommel are stainless steel, the blade is 1060 steel, and has a soft temper. This means it should hold an edge well, but will be more prone to bending because of the temper, so probably shouldn't try chopping at logs or other hard targets. One last thing to mention, this sword is made in China in a no name factory, based on the "China" stamp on the ricasso. Not surprising at this price, but "what is the country of manufacture?" seems to be common in the questions section.Overall, this is an outstanding sword at this price. A couple of corners had to be cut to get a massive sword this cheap, but those corners are either cosmetic or easily fixable. Other than the wire wrap and the not super sharp edge, this sword was a great cutter out of the box, and that is far more than I expected. This is a fun project sword with lots of potential, and will be even more fun to learn some great sword techniques with.

Good as a prop but nothing more
Arrived with a bent tip, the length was slightly smaller than advertised, the steel is not very dense, the blade didnt fit the guard properly, it says CHINA in a super distracting spot, the handle its very uncomfortable to hold so i ended up wrapping it in cotton. Cool sword for use as a prop

It's okay.
This is a decent sword for the price, it is indeed large and catches the eye. My problem with it is that the balance is off for a two handed sword, it's close to the hilt when it should be some ways down the blade for heavier swings. As is; it feels like all the weight is in the pommel. It would seem the handle is too large for the blade size. Regardless it is cool, big and inexpensive, so I'll be keeping it for display.

Best Bang for the Buck for a Scandinavian Great Sword.
Normally a sword like this cost about like 500 bucks. This one for 230. Price can't be beat. Very well constructed.Only thing is the grip might not be for everyone. Its plain wood. I'm going to add my own cord grip to it. With yarn.
