Hence usually the very best you can get
By and large the Henle editions are by far the best for classical music. If you look around often Dover has very good and cheap offerings, but I don't know about the availability of Schirmer, Kalmus, etc...never mind the cost, Henle editions are printed useably, and are reliable in scholarly content I TREASURE the hard cover Bach English Suites that I bought used many years ago.

Why did I wait to replace my old one?
I have been cheaping out on replacing my original Henle WTCs that are now 47 years old, and pretty much beyond repair in terms of constant use wear. Can no longer tape each page back into binding. Page turn corners dissolving, etc. Don't get me wrong, Henle is very durable, which is why this volume's predecessor lasted so long. These are daily-for-life practice pieces, so it is worth getting a good set. I got the Schirmer combined edition, but I really didn't like playing from it. As soon as I got the new Henle, (very relieved that it arrived in perfect condition) I was glad I had gotten it. These are such a pleasure to play from, and the fresh new condition makes the quality an especially nice experience. I will still have to transfer fingerings, which is the only slightly annoying part. Someday I'll be able to afford a huge tablet (size does matter for piano music) and a bluetooth pedal: happily these pieces don't have a huge number of page turns during practice.

The best edition.
The Henle edition of the Well Tempered Clavier is excellent, the best edition I have. Concert pianist Sir Andras Schiff wrote the Preface and worked on the fingerings that are notated throughout. I highly recommend this Henle edition for intermediate and advanced pianists who want to learn the WTC and are up to the challenge.

Henle is the best
If you have never purchased a Henle edition, do yourself a favor. I bought both Part I and Part II of the Bach Well-Tempered Clavier, and it was well worth the investment. The printing is large and clear, and spaced out well enough to make it easier to read. The notes are not all jammed up to make if fit on one page or something, and the book stays open nicely on the piano. And the fingering and ornamentation notes from Andras Schiff are very helpful for an amateur like me. And you just don't get any better than Andras Schiff when it comes to playing Bach keyboard. I ordered from "Imagine This", and when I emailed them with questions about the shipping costs, they replied, promptly, frankly, and politely. I would order from them again. K Nafziger

Henle is the best
Henle is the simply the best edition for classical piano music, but can be very expensive. If you are going to buy Henle for one composer, J. S. Bach is a great choice. This version is not cluttered with dynamics and articulations, as it was written for earlier keyboard instruments. This edition of music is very pure.

Fantastic as always
I’m a regular buyer for henle products, but for anyone on the fence for this book, I would 100% go with henle. The binding of the book itself is top notch, and the way the pages are set makes it so that you don’t constantly have to hold down the book or crease the pages to keep it down, it just stays. Lots of love from Maryland!!!
