Works just as expected
Reading other reviews, i was concerned that the fit might be too loose. I bought the 1.5 inch diameter version. Upon arrival, I measured the diameter and found it to be 1.49 inches. So that was well within my measurement capability. I had a cheap 1.5 inch hole cutter for my drill. It measured 1.45 inch, so everything was looking good. But when I turned the drill on, i noticed the hole cutter was “wobbling” because it was not concentric with the drill. This was impossible to adjust. At that point, I knew the wobble would cause the cutter to create a larger hole.I decided to drill anyway, I cut the hole. After inserting the plastic cable grommet, I found that indeed the cutter had made an oversized hole and that it resulted in a sloppy, loose fit with the cable grommet. No problem! I had a small tube of leftover DAP Kwik Seal adhesive caulk. So i laid a very small bead of the caulk around the plastic grommet and then inserted it. A little bit of the caulk got squished out, but that was quickly removed with a wet rag. One day later the grommet connection is tight and secure … not loose at all. Perfect! I used caulk because that is what i had on hand, but I am sure other thick glues could work.If you are using a cheap hole cutter, like me, your hole may get cut oversize.. But no problem!

Multiple uses, consistent sizing
Thinking outside the box, we were having a problem with squirrels and chipmunks gnawing the holes open in our bluebird houses. Only using the circular insert, we slipped these in and they worked great. The bluebirds continue to nest and the issue with our rodent friends is solved.
