Holes and its sequel, Small Steps, are two of the best books I have ever read, suitable for teenagers and adults alike. The characters don't have an easy life, but face the challenges that come their way with courage, determination and humour. You feel like they're telling their story to you alone, in a style that's fluid and intimate.The Cardturner is a stand alone book. The world of Bridge, the card game is the back drop to intricate extended family relationships, and, in particular, the relationship between the storyteller, a young guy, and his blind, bridge playing uncle, for whom he becomes a Cardturner. As the reader, we also get insights into some of the struggles of growing up; relationships, friendships, parents, identity, as the main character tells us his story.

Bought these for my 11 year old daughter she absolutely loves them, good price too for 3 books in the set. Delivery was good and nicely packed

Nice little book set requested by my daughter for her 13th birthday as something lighthearted to read especially as she lives the holes movie. They are not thick books but will keep her going for a day!!

This started off with my 10 year old reading holes at school, we were all interested in the plot. Now the whole family has read all three books. A simple read but interesting plot line.

Bought for my 11 year old grandson who loves this author, so I hope he enjoys these books.
