Well worth it
This makes the second makita tie gun I have purchased. After 3 years of daily abuse 5 days a week my original has seen better days and sometimes jams up. Purchasing a new one wasn’t even a question. Other leading brands cost 1k more and don’t offer anything more performance wise than the makita. The battery life and easy to use set up is extremely valuable. Even a rookie can tie rebar. This product has saved me thousands of dollars in man hours tying rebar and allows me to not only get jobs done faster but also have the assurance that the ties are proper and tight. These are the future of the industry. Work smarter not harder.

Fast
Works good most of the time, sometimes you get wrong angle and just line comes out, need to have room to line up correctly not for tight spaces. Sometimes three #5 work depends on angle. Great tool, light weight battery last forever, operator error is only time it does not tie, not as strong as regular tie wire , but good enough for most joints, you can turn bow tie knot by hand to adjust tension after making tie.

Works great
We have been running our new Makita for about 2 months now and it’s working great. Saving us lots of time over the old hand ties. Over a half of a case of wire and still on the original battery and charge.

Good price point for the tool.
Light weight and balanced nicely. We this tool to attach tubing to rebar for radiant floor heating and it is quick. 2 or 3 times faster than zip ties. Used 14 rolls of wire and had 3 lights on the battery. We use this tool on the lightest setting and achieved those results.

An excellent tool in every way exept for the quality of the ties it makes
On the positive side, this tool is impressive. I think of it as a modern miracle. It is very easy to use, changing batteries and/or wire rolls is quick and easy. Using it, I can make a tie every few seconds, every tie is perfectly formed and I can make dozens of ties (Tying 2 #4 bars together) before I need to replace the wire roll. The battery seems to last all day.On the negative side, This tool has a control to set tightness of the ties that varies from "so loose as to be useless" to moderately tight. This lack to tension is probably due to the tool using 21 gauge wire to do its ties. This wire is about the same thickness as a thin dental floss and maybe almost as much strength in a tie. If there is any gaps between the bars, this machine will not pull them together. If there is any stress on the bars, these ties may not keep the bars from pulling apart. If you don't have and stress in your array of bars or if you have already stabilized them with hand twisted ties using heavier gauge wire, you can use this gun to quickly and easily fill in the rest of the ties that the inspector wants to see.All in all, I am a little disappointed… I was hoping to get out of the whole hand tieing business. But with a little forethought and planning there are many uses for this tool in lightly loaded rebar constructions.Mike
