Highly recommend!
A great value! I dreaded having to go to Apple and pay what they wanted to bring my 5th Gen iPod back to life. I found this and figured I'd give it a try. Totally worth it!! My only negative mark is that the smaller case tool broke, but the bigger one worked great and had zero issues replacing the battery myself. If you've ever replaced the battery in a Galaxy Tab or any other iPod, this is a piece of cake. One suggestion, the connector for the battery on the main board needs to be lifted up so that the ribbon will slide into it and then needs to be pushed back down to lock the ribbon in place. A small hook will do it nicely. Also, do this in a well lit area so you can see what you're doing. I highly recommend this product!!!

The tools broke almost immediately and did no good whatsoever. The ribbon cable from the battery to the input slot on the circuit board is very flimsy and bends when you try to attach. You do not get a solid connection. This is a piece of junk, don't waste your money.

EXCELLENT PRICE & EXCELLENT BATTERY (but with some caveats)!
The battery itself is perfect and works wonderfully with my 80GB 5th Gen iPod Classic. I'm SO happy my iPod won't reset every time leave it for more than a few minutes. To respond to the most common issues:*THE PLASTIC TOOLS ARE CRAP AND WILL BREAK. Don't bother using the tools it comes with. Really. Several hand and finger scratches later and lesson learned. Expect to use a small screwdriver set or something thin and sturdy. I used a hair barrette because it was what I had handy at the time. Be patient but firm when opening your iPod. But really, don't bother with the tools that come with it. Your hands will thank you.*IF THE BATTERY IS TOO THICK/DOESN'T FIT, then this isn't the right battery for your iPod. A lot of people are ordering this battery, which is for iPod CLASSIC ONLY, and finding that it doesn't fit. If the battery is too thick when you try to install it, you ordered the wrong one.*IF THE BATTERY DOESN'T HOLD A CHARGE, the PLEASE GO WATCH A YOUTUBE VIDEO. You probably didn't correctly connect the battery in the clip. (Source: I did this. I cracked open the case then accidentally dropped it, and both sides tore apart. I had to use electrical tape to fix the one connector that broke, and didn't even know about how the battery was supposed to go in the clip. I was about ready to write the seller a nastygram about the dead battery, but it turns out I just did it wrong. I opened it back up, connected it to the clip, and voila. I can haz power.)This battery brought life back to my old iPod. It gets -1 star for the scratches the tools left on my fingers/hands when they broke, but otherwise this battery is definitely recommended if you have the right iPod for it and need a replacement.

is it really a fresh new battery?
it's a new battery for my Ipod Classic. i'm still testing it out, but i'm a little suspicious of how long it holds a charge.I've used for 1 hour and the battery indicator drops from almost full to under half. other times, i've used for an hour in the car and it barely moves the battery indicator. Please note i've modded my classic to run off Microsd cards and it should actually run longer because there are no longer any moving parts..just feel like my old battery could hold a charge longer than this "new" battery.

The kit made changing the battery very easy. And it has been working well. I was dismayed when Apple said they no longer make a battery for the best piece of technology they ever produced. If your battery goes bad, order an aftermarket and watch the you tube video and change the battery yourself. The tools are cheaply made, but with a little patience they will work.

Didn't work for me.
The tip of one of the plastic pry bars snapped off on my first try to use it. When I did get the case open using my own tools, the battery was too thick to recluse the case. Unfortunately, when removing the old battery, I broke through a ribbon wire by the battery and now my iPod is definitely toast.

Perfect replacement.
I'm one of those whom the battery worked great for. I figured the original needed to be replaced because it couldn't hold a charge long and seemed to never be fully charged. Bought this since the majority if reviews were positive and it's affordable. Couldn't be more satisfied.
