Tiffen 77BPM14 77mm Black Pro-Mist 1/4 Diffusion Camera Filter

The Tiffen pro-mists are amazing. The halation looks better than the K&F concepts and no coatings adds sun glares to the shot to make it more artistic. Also the 1/4 Tiffen is the strength of the 1/8 K&F so if you dont want too much halation get the Tiffen 1/8 for a more subtle effect that you can use in more shots. I have both the Tiffen 1/4 & 1/8 and they are really good. Also, one of mine came with the glass rattling around a bit, if you get that on the black side of the inside of the front facing of the filter there is a small hole you can use to tighten the metal supporting the glass. Watch a Youtube video. It is common for that to happen with filters over time and it does not mean your filter is damaged!

The filter is slight more substantial that other brands of filters I have...the feel is kind of like the difference between an iPhone and a Samsung.The filter arrives in great condition.The company has existed long enough to warrant the 10 years warranty.

Good consistency from tiffen as a company with accurate fit, durable threads and glass, clear and rarely fog or scratch.Mist filter works in low light morning shots or bright shots with the sun in frame.

I use this filter with a Canon AE-1 Program, and it works as intended. For a bit less than a Moment Cinebloom filter that I use on my Mamiya RB67, it gets the job done. The only complaint I'd have is with occasional reflections between the filter and front lens element when the light hits at a certain angle. This has never happened once with my Cinebloom Filter.Attached are 3 images shot on film from the same roll on the same night.First two look as intended, but the third photo highlights the reflections. That being said, I was able to use Lightroom Generative AI removal brush to correct it. Still 5/5, would recommend.Pros:- Effectiveness- Price to PerformanceCons:- Occasional Reflections

When looking into using the Pro-Mist filters, I wasn't sure which to get. After doing some research I was able to determind that 1/4 was the sweet spot needed to bloom out highlights and soften features without losing details and sharpness. I love what the filter does to LED lights! It gives ambient lighting in low light situations and bit of a flare that really adds to an otherwise normal location shoot. For portrait photos in the daylight, it also helps to soften features without sacrificing sharpness and thus not needing to put as much time during post processing. Highly recommended!
