Bought a size 5 for my 4 1/2 year old but they just fit. He is a little tall and 45 lbs, but not bulky at all. They were a little big but with the adjustable waist band they would fit perfect. I didn't want perfect. I wanted them to fit for a while so I ordered a 6. They were really long but I just tacked up the legs and used the adjustable waist. They stayed up great and they will fit for at least this season and next and will get my moneys worth. They are good Carhartt material and I see them lasting for a long time.

The boy loves them, says they’re soft, warm and lightweight. Legs aren’t too wide. They’re the perfect length and fit in the waist great. A perfect size 14.

I am a 5'3 105 lb woman in construction. I don't know if this will be helpful to many women, as I know I am in the minority- but I want pants that are tough and that fit! I bought a few Carhartt womens pants, but they are typically still too big as the smallest size they produce is 2, sometimes even 4. I always have to end up wearing a belt with womens pants, and the material scrunches in the waist. It is also very hard to find womens pants made for tough work! I like these pants because they are made out of a thicker material, and they have an adjustable waist! That being said, it IS cut for a Big Boy. The crotch area has a lot more space than with womens pants. The legs are also "tent-ish"/ wide legged. However, since these have an adjustable waist, I can pull them at the tightest notch and wear them nice and high. Even though my mother said I looked like Erkel, I'd rather be comfy and not worry about my cracky showing when bending. I look funny, but I feel great!

My boys put these pants through a lot and they stay looking nice. I ordered a second set bc they wear them so much. Adjustable waist is an added bonus.

My eight year old lives in these and I 100% recommend. Carhart had the only pants that last from one growth spurt to the next without being in tatters. He loves the warm lining in this pair and I really like the adjustable waist. These are old fashioned canvas pants so there is no stretch.

We live in Maine. It's cold and we chop wood outside. My 13 yo stays warm in these and they are durable. We also love the adjustable straps since he is skinny!
