For those of you who have gone through two or three plastic hose reel boxes, stop it. This metal housed reel is the bomb. The connections are solid, nothing leaks at all, the handle is stout and has a comfortable hand hold, and it holds 100' of hose just fine. Attach the base to a wood board and stake it to the ground. I used the plastic base from my old plastic box. This thing costs three times what a plastic box does, but it is TOTALLY worth it. Do yourself a favor, spend the money. Every time you pull your hose out, and reel it back in, you'll thank yourself! - Todd

I've gone through few hose reels. I like the wind up ones with an alternating guide. The plastic ones are crap. The summer ruins them after one season.This Ames is made from either heavy grade aluminum or some other rust proof metal. The guide on it works seamlessly. Sometimes, it helps to make sure your hose has drained before winding or it will bind up. It's a little expensive, but it actually works. It's hard to find many products these days that will do exactly what they are designed to do with ease.

Very solid. Would have been 5 stars...Unfortunately mine came with missing parts. Two of the four corners had no nut plates, so you couldn't attach the legs.

Good quality hose reel. Nice metal construction, rolls up and pulls out hose very easily.

Had been looking for a hose reel that wasn’t all plastic and could withstand a lot of hose. This one is a great bang for the buck .. spend the extra cash on this hose reel.. worth every penny to not have a leaky hose and be able to keep the hose up. It is very well made .

This looked promising, but it was way too small for our use. I was not wild about the faux basketry on front and liked it less in person. Seemed very lightweight overall and perhaps best suited for occasional use. Returned for refund.

This is my second purchase. The first was about 3 years ago and it still looks and works well. The heavy metal conceals up to 100' of hose. The lid is heavy and you don't have to weight it down when the wind blows creating a noisy "Thump, Thump, Thump" like with plastic reels interrupting nap time! The retrieving mechanism works like grease lightning and knows where to easily return every time. 🇺🇸
