This was an open box and just like my other open box purchases looks/works great. I got tired of the plastic brewers that you could never clean real well and never lasted. Only had it for about a month will update if it doesn't last. Great coffee with the sounds and smells of mom making breakfast when I was growing up. Brews fast, you don't need a filter, (does make cleanup go faster) you will end up with a few grounds at the bottom but I sometimes remember being able to chew the last cup in the pot mom made. I tried the regular basket and cone but neither work well enough and I had to order the fold type from amazon. After a couple of real weak pots I made sure the grounds are level in the filter/basket then all was well, the weak coffee was my fault and not the pot. Of course it is very hot right after brewing and stays that way. I have never had it going longer than two hours so I can't say if it will burn the coffee but after the two hours the coffee still tastes the same to me. A couple of wishes would be for a glass perk top (nostalgia) and a longer cord. I know the cord on the pot growing up was far longer but in a ligation happy world where you have to warn people that hot coffee is actually hot, we are stuck with manufacturers trying to prevent natural selection from doing its job.

I bought this because my Proctor Silex pot died after only about 6 months, it was a real waste of money and a whole other review...so decided to pay a few dollars extra for the farberware, and what a difference...the pot has some ‘weight’ not ‘tinny’ or flimsy...made very well...coffee is very hot and always tastes good...easy enough to clean...I think the only thing a little ‘off’ is that to me, it’s not a true 12 cup...but that’s really kind of subjective, depending on what your idea of a cup is...my coffee cups are mugs and can hold a full 12 ounces...but of course you never completely fill them...so say for arguments sake; maybe 10 ounces...making a full pot; I can usually get 8 of my size cups...

Farberware is the only brand of percolator that I've ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to except my old one. My old one is at least 10 years old and still works like new. The oldie is only a 4 cup percolator and is great for me alone. I wanted a larger one for when we have company. I was hesitant to purchase the new one based on some negative reviews but I went ahead anyway since my old one has been and still is so reliable. I've only had this new 12 cup percolator for about a month. The body does not seem as thick as the older one but it's not flimsy either. I've only used it 4 or 5 times but so far so good.

At 63 yrs old, I have had coffee from just about any coffee maker, nothing beats the name of Farberware or a percolator…I wore out my last 2, happy to find this at a better price than the big box stores!

Oh Faberware! Out of all the products I have purchased on Amazon in the last 8 years, I was probably most looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, it stopped working after it made 1 pot of coffee. Yes, today, Monday morning, it refused to do anything for me when I plugged it in. I tried a different cable, a different outlet, still nothing. I'm not about to try anything else since it is brand spanking new. Seller was great; I received product before expected, but Faberware is a different story. Too bad. I love percolated coffee, but the life of of their pots has gotten worse and worse.
