Thought I had a bad battery. Replaced it with no luck. This starter fit, installed easily, and is now starting reliably.

The installation proceeded seamlessly, supported by an abundance of instructional videos available online that showed the uncomplicated process. The sole obstacle encountered was a particularly stubborn ground on our old starter motor, which required grinding off; however, this was merely a minor inconvenience. Ultimately, the new starter motor now turns the engine over with the efficiency of a brand-new unit and seems to be a more robust model—reportedly an upgraded version from the factory—in stark contrast to the original. It has become apparent that after six to seven years, the gear engagement in these starter motors tends to deteriorate. Our former motor could rotate in either direction without raising up to the flywheel gear, whereas the new motor spins freely in one direction while the opposite direction allows the engagement gear to appropriately contact the flywheel. The investment was undeniably worthwhile, given that this model of mower is no longer in production, and these engines can endure for over 25 years with regular maintenance—far surpassing the newer models plagued by timing gear issues and exorbitant internal/eternal replacement costs, which are five times greater.

Used it on a Honda walk behind mower. It was a 10 minute install and was spot on. Better yet I got it in a couple days

I purchased this item for my parents lawn mower on 05.31.2024, so that the few days that my teenager couldn't mow they were able to easily start the lawn mower. That has been less than 5 times this whole summer. My dad went to start the mower yesterday using the starter and it wouldn't start. I contacted the seller and was told there is only a 30 day warranty on this item. It cost 81.95 + tax and was used less than 5 times. It would have been more cost effective to hire someone to mow the lawn those few times that the starter was used, considering their lawn is flat and small. I 100% do not recommend this product as a replacement part for the Honda mower, even though it is stated to be a Honda distributor.
