the Canon sx20is is absolutely amazing and so much better than the SX10is. But does not have built in wifi but a simple wire connected to your computer and you're set. This is an absolute wonderful camera for beginners and has the capability of a professional Canon such as a rebel. things like Shutter speed etc. Are all capabilities I definitely recommend it to anyone I see and I have two other friends that went out and got it after I did and they absolutely love it ...you will not be disappointed in this camera.

This camera is about as pro as you can get without buying a DSLR! I love mine and don't want a newer model because I read that they don't have the rotating viewscreen. What comes with it: lens cape, sun shade, instruction pamphlet (you can probably download the instruction book for the SX10IS, it's much more detailed) cable to upload photos/video to computer. Does NOT come with bag or memory card. Buy a memory card with plenty of space since you said your dad takes videos. I also suggest a tripod for steady video and zooming in on the subject.

Q: Will it output video w/time,date stamp? How many hours of recording time will it last w/the 4 aa batteries?

I 'think' it will record time date. I use rechargeable batteries and always keep another set in my camera case. The batteries last for hours! I've never really kept track of the time. If using flash battery life is shorter.
