Wandering Jew Lilac - Tradescantia Fluminensis Lilac - House Plant - 2.5 inch potted plant Wandering Jew Lilac is a spreading cascading plant with a rainbow of colorful foliage, the fleshy leaves are a mixture of white , green ,pink, mauve stripes and blotches. It gives small white flowers. Wandering jew plant care requires bright, indirect light. If the light is too dim, the leaf markings will fade. Keep the soil slightly moist, but don’t water directly into the crown as this will cause an unsightly rot in your wandering jew plant. Care should be taken, particularly in winter, that the plant doesn’t become too dry. Mist wandering jew plants frequently. Feed your plant monthly with a half-strength liquid fertilizer. An important part of growing wandering jew plants is pinching back the long, vining tendrils. Pinch back about a fourth of the plant to encourage branching and increase fullness. One of the main reasons for asking, “How do I care for my wandering jew?’ is the short life of the plant. Wandering jew houseplants do not age well. No matter how well your wandering jew plant care is, they lose their leaves at the base while the long legs keep growing. Don’t be surprised if your wandering jew plants need to be renewed once a year or so.

Beautiful
It is too pricey for the plant received. Would not purchase again for that reason. The plant was healthy and well-packaged. It is thriving. Hits of lavender are very subtle.

It was a piece of trash!
This plant came squished in the box. There was no dirt in the tray & the so called plant was about an inch long look like a weed. I don’t think this is not salvageable. For that amount of money $25 I expected I actually small plant. Not this piece of crap that was destroyed & won’t survive!! Don’t buy. Not with the money. I’m very disappointed!!!!!1-31-2023I have yet to hear anything back on this plant I ordered. It obviously died a few days after receiving & sending the first message. It would be nice as much as I order that I would either be compensated for this $25.00 loss. I would prefer a plant replacement if I can receive one that actually has a plant in & isn’t all damaged in shipping! Could I please get some sort of an answer back regarding this item. I think I’ve been very patient & just want what I paid for would be nice!!

Arrived amazing!
This plant was adorable when I received it! I couldn’t believe how gorgeous it looked after being mailed. The soil was moist and the plant had NO damage. It is growing so quickly. It was well rooted and ready before being shipped.

From the ashes :)
This picture is after nearly two months of rehab. When I first got this plant I was seriously disappointed. It was soggy and very small. Most of its vines/leaves dies within the first day or two of opening. I replanted into a ceramic pot about the same size as the container and set it on a window with lots of morning sun only, bright light rest of day and water it about once a week. Im happy to say finally growing and perky!!! So pretty!! Very difficult to start growth but in love with the color of these leaves!! I did contact the seller when I first got it and they were not helpful but I did my research. :)

The plant arrived is great condition. The sender took the time to pack it properly. I have had it for a while now and it continues to grow and thrive...

Pricey Pretty Noxious Weed
[Edited March 2020] I suggest that you read the seller’s responses to negative reviews. I still stand by mine. FYI: I would advise against planting this outside; it is considered an invasive weed.[Edited in mid-June 2019] I am full-on in love with this plant! A number of things came into play to make it the beauty it is today, of course (e.g., high-quality organic potting soil and plant food, a consistent watering mechanism even when one’s away for any extended time, a south-facing window). I never imagined it would not only thrive, but also defy all my expectations. I’m so glad I didn’t give up hope.It propagates beautifully, so even though you have to repot it once a year or thereabouts you can’t kill it! If you don’t succeed at your first try, try again.* * *[Edited nine months later, late May 2019] I scrapped the results from my very meager and disappointing initial planting of the seller’s cuttings of the plant in last August and started anew in April of this year, with a bigger and deeper pot, fed it some organic plant food that comes in capsules, and paid it close attention. The difference is night and day. It needs lots of indirect sunlight, consistently moist soil, misting, rotating (for an even pink distribution), and in general a whole lot of coddling.I’m happy with the results so far. Minus one star, only because it was so expensive.* * *[Original one-star review, August 2018] Meh. Not impressed. I’ve been successfully propagating the more richly colored and easily available (i.e., purple) variety of this plant. I bought the rooted pink cuttings on a whim, and they seem a sad, anemic, pale, bruised—not to mention expensive!—shadow of my more robust second- and third-generation purple version. For context, I added in the second photo my own purple 3G from cuttings from a local purchase. I keep my fingers crossed that I’ll get thicker, healthier growths from the new pink ones from which to harvest cuttings for a repot.

Very unhappy with arrival of plant
Very unhappy with the condition of my plant upon arrival. The soil was home dry and I could tell it was not going to be pretty when I unwrapped it. As you can see from my pics one of the stems was hanging and already half dead. When I carefully removed the plastic wrap and tape it completely fell apart. I immediately put it into a pot and watered it but I am certain I will need to return it. It makes Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree look like the one at Rockefeller. I purchased the same plant from another business and it arrived in amazing shape. I will likely reorder from them. Update 5/1/23 I finally had to admit these were not going to improve. Fortunately the seller did refund me the purchase price. I really wanted them to thrive but it wasn’t the case. I may still order from seller again as they did respect my decision.
