They are pretty true to size, but you can go up one size to be safe.

Q: Will Crye knee pad inserts fit in these pants?

I am almost positive they won’t, the knees are cut in a triangle on the outside, and are open really strange looking. The material is like a thick polyester material , stiff. They looked cool, not my style though.

Q: How do I know how long they are if I buy a 42 waist what will be the length of them in a 42 waist ? I need a 42x 30 ?

Most pants length by default are 34". They will need to be hemmed or rolled. I have the same issue with pants but I roll them opposite (under) and it works. I wear 28x30 and almost every manufacturer that makes pants, make them in a 34" length unless clearly stated. Welcome to the pants world my friend.
