Holds the 2 inch mallet!
Only hammer ring ive found that comfortably holds my 2 inch mallet securely! This thing is great but you'll definitely want to use a 3 inch belt.Definitely recommended as the construction is nice and made out of a very thick, stiff leather.

Perfectly for the job
Well constructed and fits on a 2 inch belt perfectly

very happy
High quality leather, very sturdy and well built. One may be able to get a hammer holder for cheaper but no where even close to the durability and quality this is not a stamped out piece of what seems to be cardboard and possibly not even leather that you can get a big box store. And even aside from the durability you can tell the craftsmanship that are put into these just by looking at them, and they're made in the USA.

Game changer.
I bought two for my Dad because he was complaining about his old hammer holster being too long, causing aches in his hips and needing a shorter one, he loves this brand now he even asked me to get him a tape holster. 10/10 recommend, keeps the hammer closer to the hip.

High-quality! Perfect for me.
The leather is super high-quality will last a long time. High mounting so no more knee slapping with my hammer. Using it on my 3 inch leather belt.

Won't need to replace this frequently
As another reviewer noted, what you find in the Blue or the Orange big box places is nothing like this. I was looking to replace my preferred style of hammer holster - with a hammer loop of leather not metal, as it holds the hammer better when climbing around - but didn't find anything like my older one in terms of quality. (here's one that I decided against: Bon 14-246 Leather Hammer Loop).I am the type that would rather spend a bit more money now, but something well made, and have it for a long time. So, after resigning myself to the fact that I wasn't going to find my favorite type of hammer holster anywhere around where I live, I started looking online. However, it's very hard to discern quality of manufacture sometimes when buying online, and I also found the offerings were clearly not made in the U.S. I'm no xenophobe, but I figured if the price was too cheap, and it was made abroad, the quality probably wasn't very high. At that point, I began looking for this style hammer holster -- with a metal loop -- and again found that the offerrings in the Blue and Orange places as well as in the few remaining builder's supply places weren't very durable. I am not sure how, but I eventually stumbled upon the Occidental products and saw that I had finally found my next hammer holster. Now, after a few weeks of use I can say that it is very well made, and I'm happy with my purchase, although I am still lamenting having to switch from the leather loop type. Oh well .... I believe this high mount is the best solution to my needs, and the Occidental build quality is very, very good.

High quality at a slightly high price
After looking at the orange and blue stores, I was very unhappy with their options for a hammer holder. They both had cheap leather that was punched out to thread your belt through, but worse was the poorly riveted on steel loops. The rivets just held right on to the leather with no reinforcement. I think I'm like most people in that I just drop my hammer into my holder. I believe that the rivets in these cheapo holsters will tear out in just a few months of this kind of use.I don't want to waste my time constantly replacing poorly made stuff, so I bought the Occidental Leather hammer holster instead. It has the leather looped to make a tunnel to thread your belt through. This is more durable, but does allow the holder to move freely on your belt. The steel loop is riveted on, but the rivets go through washers on the back side. This spreads the strain out over a larger area so they don't tear through. The holster is also tanned, so it has some protection from the elements. This particular model has the steel loop fairly high compared to what you typical find in stores. It helps keep your hammer from banging into your knee all day, depending on the hammer's length. I haven't decided if I really like this or not, all I can say it that it doesn't bother me.I expect that I won't find myself regretting buying this over the cheaply big box store versions any time soon.

Perfect.
Perfect. I carry a 16" wood handled stiletto on the back of my belt and it doesnt hit me in the back of my knees with every step anymore. I put a Chicago screw through the middle of it to fix it to my belt and its great.
