Plow & Hearth 32"x60" Half Round Fireproof Hearth Rug | Tan | 2 Layer Fiberglass Mat | Protect Hardwood/Carpet from Sparks & Embers Wood Stove

Had fiberglass rugs from Plow and hearth for in front of woodstove for years. Old ones (thicker, better seams) started looking crummy and the seams binding the rug were fraying badly but were better made. Old color was a deep brown but new one is a light to medium gray brown even though I ordered brown. New one slips more easily on same underlying carpet. Looks better, though. Wish they had a small rectangular rug in same color to set next to/under this one so there would be even better underlying carpet protection when I open woodstove to add more wood. Old rug was good for sparks but I wouldn't ever lay a burning log on one and I douse sparks right away. New one seems okay so far for spark protection. Used old rugs under my workbench in garage just for some soft give under foot.

I am pleased with this product. I had purchased a cheaper one and as they say----you get what you pay for. I was cleaning and found an ember had landed on it, burned a hole right through and burned the carpet. Glad no fire was started. That is why I order this and I should have realized that a good fireproof rug is going to cost a little bit. It works well. The low pile is easy to vacuum with the carpet vacuum and I have witnessed hot embers pop onto it and it didn't even leave a mark. That is what I wanted in the first place. Don't waste your money on the cheap stuff. Spend a little more and know it will protect your carpet and floors. I would buy an even bigger one although this one is a good size. I would buy it again.

This rug is completely fireproof, I have dropped logs or had sparks from the fireplace, and they are out soon, with no damage to the rug. That said, the rug is constantly shifting position and I don't know why! I've even tried heavy duty, double stick carpet tape and it still moves! It's like there's a little gremlin inside the rug, messing with me.👺 Still, it does what it's supposed to do.

I’ve been looking for a new hearth rug to be placed in front of our family room wood burning fireplace. This rug is better than I expected. The charcoal gray blends nicely with the other decor in the room. It covers a large area of floor in front of the fireplace in case a spark should fly out or a hot log should roll on the floor. Easy to shake out the wood debris and I can even vacuum it. I’ve ordered other items from this brand and they are all of high quality. I’m sure we’ll get many years of use out of this rug.

Flying sparks just go out, no burn marks. Color is beautiful.

We've tried many different fireplace rugs, all of which say they are flame resistant but then melt the first time a cinder pops out of the fire. This rugs is exactly as advertised and holds up remarkably well to direct contact with burning embers. The top surface is slightly rough from the fiberglass which doesn't bother us at all, but it's probably not something you'll want to lay or sit on without padding. It took a few days of laying it upside down to smooth out the curl from shipping but it's perfectly flat now. We love it and highly recommend it.

Can't clean this rug!Cost, $130.00 after 40 days of normal use looks like it came out of a barn. Vacuuming doesn't work, tried washing by hand scrub brush with rug cleaner no effect.
