Usborne Illustrated Guide to Greek Myths and Legends
K**Z
Beautifullly illustrated and well-told.
I taught a whole unit with this book. My students were covering the same material in their English classes and so the small differences in the tales got them interested and asking questions. We ended the unit by writing tabloid style news stories with exciting illustrations which I then bound. Since I was teaching reading to low to very low level high school readers, the success of this lesson/unit was spectacular to me. (The language is British English, another good lesson within the lesson.)

A life-long love
I used to read this to my youngest daughter. It was HER book! In college, she double majored in Archaeology and Chemistry. Even though she decided to pursue Chemistry, she still loves any archaeological topic. And, this book is where it began. I bought this for her as a gift and she loved it. We read it so much, she can still repeat a few passages!

Love this book.
I remember reading this book in elementary school...I couldn't remember what it was called, only that I had checked it out a million times from the school library as a child and that it had a snake and the golden fleece on the front. The art is just fantastic and there's quite a few stories to keep you entertained.

My 2nd grader liked it as they are studying ancient myths in school
Thinner than I thought it would be and sometimes mixes up Greek and Roman names for the Gods. My 2nd grader liked it as they are studying ancient myths in school, though he needed help to read it. It would be ideal for middle school.

Great educational books
Great book. I love Usborne books for their beauty as well as content. They are great adjuncts for homeschoolers as well as just good books for your kids to enjoy. We have a stack of books at home and never plan to part with them.

Okay but flawed
Okay, but flawed. The author used mostly Greek names for the gods but for some reason chose to use Pluto (Roman) instead of his proper Greek name for Hades. It made me question the accuracy of the rest of the book since such a glaring flaw was made here.
