Good large capacity entrprise SATA drives
Drive supplied in an OEM cardboard box inside an airbag packed Amazon box.The WD Gold line has been discontinued - this new WD Ultrastar Enterprise range is a mix of the old WD gold and HGST Ultrastar ranges. Only new SATA range capacities 12TB and over are Helium filled and 10^15 BER.Critical information for RAID error recovery is that they do not use WD's TLER, but HGST's CCTL. Because they are enterprise drives, CCTL is also NOT enabled at spin-up, so needs to be set automatically via a supported RAID controller or manually/scripted using smartmon tools on EVERY cold boot.Temperature wise, for a 7.2k rpm drive, they're not too bad - I'm seeing 33 degrees C (Min/Max 16/38) in 24 deg C ambient air conditions.

Not as advertised
Item arrived 7 days after purchase . So excited opened it up to find a drive with a white label on it. I googled this and found that these drives have failed and been revamped by a certified company but you wouldn't trust any data stored on them. I then tried to install I have never had so many problems installing a hard drive. The company sent me help and advice but I had already tried them to no avail. Had to return this in the end and wait again for a refund. All in all I was without a drive for 2 weeks . Bought a wd red pro 10gb from a uk company installed In 5 minutes, should of done this first. In my opinion the company should show the proper picture of the drive and i would advise anyone thinking of buying avoid like the plague or buy at your own risk

MAKE SURE you have a VALID TRACKING NUMBER SCAMMERS ARE SELLING ON AMAZONI bought the best drive I could find for backups.I backed up all my valuable, sensitive, personal files to it.One day it's just not there - after 2 months of use.I have tried putting it on different SATA ports - no good.WD is meant to be a Go-To Brand - Not so.Just because its Gas filled and has a DataCenter gold label does not mean premium, trusted a brand.The 'Returns' window will close shortly after use so £400 wasted

Best All Round Enterprise / NAS Drives On The Market
Western Digital Gold / Ultra are the best all round enterprise / NAS drives on the market. They just work. Zero failures here from multiple sets of WD Gold / Ultra drives over many years. Whereas Seagate drives drop like flies.

These drives are OEM drives and do not come with a MFG warranty. The warranty provided is from the seller.They also nead more power than a standard SATA power form a PC. You nead to use a Molex from the PSU and then conect then use a molex to SATA poer cable.
