Really great XLTE MiFi device
So far so good. I'll update this review if I experience any problems that other users are reporting (starting off at fast speeds, then slowing down, etc.). I think those issues mainly depend on your coverage, and you can sometimes help it by getting an external antenna and/or signal amplifier if you are in an area with poor coverage (see below). Since this review is about this device and not Verizon coverage (though if it were, I would also say that they do have one of the larger LTE networks), I'm rating it based on the device itself. Allow me to explain some pros/cons:PROS:* Uses Verizon's XLTE bands, making it essentially capable of faster speeds (higher bandwidth on less crowded spectrum) if you live in an area with that coverage (again, not rating the coverage, just the fact that this device has this capability).*Many sources online indicate this also is LTE Advanced capable, so this should keep the device current moving forward for some time.* The device doubles as a battery pack! This would be useful for me, say at a conference or event where I sometimes had to bring another battery pack for a mobile device.* Fully customizable router-like features. This device is able to port forward, MAC filter, port filter, WPS (security issues aside), supports passthrough VPN, DMZ, can allow devices to communicate with each other (if desired), etc. This is a fully-featured device.* The web interface allows you to customize many hotspot features and also how they present themselves (or not) on the device itself. Really useful.* "test port" is really an external antenna port. You do need the adapter which you can find here Novatel Wireless Verizon Jetpack MiFi 6620L 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot External Antenna Adapter Cable Pigtail With Fme Male Connector. The adapter goes to FME Male which is useful as some of the Wilson cellular antenna products use this same connector (some antennas use SMA though so you may need another converter on top of this adapter).CONS:* Unless I am missing it, I do not see a static IP feature. How do you offer port forwarding, etc. and not static IP. I suppose I could manually set a static IP on my device, but that's kind of a pain.* Slightly thicker than I would prefer, because it offers the battery pack feature. This is not a major problem for me though, since it is replacing a battery pack and hotspot device.Other notes: I have not noticed any ghost data usage but I see a number of other people reporting it online. If I start to experience that, I would probably get a data usage app to double check. I also have set my connections in Windows 8.1 to "metered" and turned off syncing over metered connections. Also, I experienced a moderately decent 10 Mbps Down/5 Mbps Up using an unscientific Speedtest*net.

Good product
Received the product but Verizon was unable to connect it with SIM card it came with. Verizon stated they would send a SIM card and it would not add to my current bill to turn it on. 10 days later, no SIM card. Called Verizon who stated it was on its way and all I had to do was put it in and it would auto sync and be functional. Waited five more days and finally went to a Verizon store who gave me a new SIM card and charged me 35 dollars to connect it and 20 dollars a month to use it. Be aware of additional costs. It has worked great as an additional hotspot.

Required a little more than swapping SIM cards but still works great.
1. Requires a micro sim card. The one I had was full size but Verizon will replace for free and did. I received mine within three business days (free shipping) but you can pay about $7 for two day.2. Put in new SIM card but only received limited access. Required calling Verizon and providing the IMEI which is under the battery.3. Works great!I initially tried a factory reset per online troubleshooting but that did not work for me. The steps above resulted in the device working. This device is no longer available from Verizon but is still an upgrade from the JetPack it is replacing (stopped holding a charge) and a much cheaper option than buying a new device plus an activation fee. Verizon could never explain what they were activating since I already had an account. I suppose the steps above are the activation process. But as you can see, they will send you a free SIM card if you already have an account and you can do the activation.I have this same device through my work (3 plus years) and it holds a great standby and usage charge. Arrived with Novatel battery and matching charger. This differed from what I received with the same Jetpack my work issued, but I feel what I received is original to the device. However, the box is not original. The box was for a phone. This is not an issue for me but be aware since my device was described as Like New. So far this holds a charge like my one for work. I really like that you can connect to 15 devices. It is thick and a little heavy but a workhorse. The seller I purchased from, Wireless Trader, required a signature for delivery.

RUN THE OTHER WAY
Update, July 13, 2017I received feedback that has made me think about my initial review. The fact that I am disabled isn't pertinent except to me.My review:When I purchased this, I expected to receive a Verizon MiFi 6620L Jetpack 4G LTE that worked when I took it out of the box. I did expect that I would have to charge it. When I received it, it did not work because of having an expired SIM card. No where in the description does it say that you will need to get a new SIM card. So, when I received it, it did not work. I have purchased other electronics that worked after charging, I did not have to track down a part that should be included and up to date. That is why I am giving this product a poor review.I am giving this such a poor review because:I am disabled, I shop online because it is so difficultto go to a store. When I received this, I called Verizon to activate it.Turns out the SIM card had been 'retired'.After many phone calls, I was told that if someone couldgo to a Verizon store, I would be given a SIM cardfor it.I got someone to go, they were given a SIM card, brought it to me, it didn't fit.More phone calls …I ended up having to take the jet pack to a Verizonstore, the fourth SIM card finally fit andworked. These are very old 6620L, and it is definitely notstraight forward getting them activated. This is the worst purchase I have made.
