American Trails Freestanding Ladder Desk With Drawer, Natural Maple/White

This item is in my daughters bedroom ( she is 7). We needed something that was small and not very deep as its kinda in a walkway on the way out of her room. This item came perfectly packaged, no damage. I was very careful in checking the box and pieces due to some of the reviewsThings to be careful/look out for:1. Just like the reviews stated- there are a couple steps where you are screwing into direct wood with no pilot holes to guide you. ( specifically when putting together the base). I anticipated this as people said they ended up stripping the screw because there wasn't a pilot hole and you are screwing directly into real wood. I went ahead and drilled pilot holes in advance so I did not have this problem. I would highly recommend this as I could completely see how you could split the wood and/or strip the screw.2. This item is not "level" on its own just standing up. Basically it needs to be braced to the wall to be correctly level otherwise it tends to "lean" toward you.3. I have no idea how this could be used without screwing to the wall- it WILL fall over with weight on it. Just leaning on it to write would be a problem4. Braced to the wall it is perfectly level.5. The desk piece and shelves are all raw wood with a white primer paint coat. It IS NOT sealed. So for a kid that will use marker and pencils and such- this would be completely stained and couldn't really be wiped. So to solve- I had matte clear spray polyurethane that I used. After putting the whole shelf together I put it on my back porch and gave it 3 coats of spray polyurethane - letting it dry between each coat. Now its wipeable- pencil marks come right off.Overall- great purchase and would recommend

I required a small workspace where I could read and write. The desk saved me the trouble of buying floating shelves and making needless holes in my apartment walls. I like that it allows quick access to books, writing accessories, and more. The drawer is very basic; there are no attachments, just a sliding boxed drawer that fits on either side of the desk. I waited a few months before writing this review; I am extremely satisfied with this product.FYI: I purchased the chair (Flash Furniture Elon Series Plastic Modern Dining Chair with Wooden Legs, Mid-Century Modern Accent Chair for Dining Rooms and Offices, White) which pairs well with this desk and is quite comfortable.

This is a nice compact desk. Perfect for my kids room. It is solid wood which is rare these days. Matches my white pine floors nicely. The lower shelf is too low so I removed it and it works great. I do wish there was a back on the upper shelf to prevent things from falling off behind the desk. I was able to put it together myself. Some people have said the hole do not align. But they align when the pieces are level. Tip- put it together laying on its side and it helps a ton.

Arrived with all pieces, had no issue assembling it by myself. Very impressed with the material quality - it is actual wood and not MDF. I've had this desk for almost a year now and it is very sturdy and looks great

When you buy enough pressed wood furniture over the years, and get used to the crummy, flimsy assembly, you learn to appreciate a solid piece of furniture. This desk is solid! As we were assembling this desk, the quality of the craftsmanship pleasantly surprised us. This desk will probably last 10x longer than the pressed wood desks made of wood scraps and sawdust.As for how it looks assembled, it’s sleek, modern, and takes up little space for people with a small work area. This desk was worth every penny and I’ll be following this manufacturer for future designs. Seriously, I was so happy with the finished product that I might steal it from my daughter’s room and move it to my office.

Where do I start? Lousy instructions for one I guess. It is WAY easier reset the clock on an old VCR or to send a man to the moon than it is to follow these instructions.Once assembled you've got so much space between the sloppy fitting pieces that you could slip a small child through them.Which leads me to another issue, its so wobbly I wouldn't trust it in proximity with any children or pets around because its likely to fall down on them and cause more harm than it did to your fingers when trying to torque down the screws with the cheap Allen wrench they so graciously included!Don't even get me started on how soft the wood is! Just looking at it I swear it developed dents and scuffs in it! Hardwood? Hardly! My old balsa wood airplane kits from childhood are harder than this material! I think the box it came in is sturdier than the finished product.Last point I'd like to make is the dimensions. Actual total width including the sides is almost 34", and the width of the table is 32". We are very limited on space and so it is very important to us that sellers accurately list the "REAL" measurements of their products. For depth and height someone else is going to have to chime in because I didn't leave it assembled long enough to even care about those dimensions.Bottom line, if you're going to get this, do yourself a favor and flush $130 down the toilet instead. In the long run you'll still come out money ahead!And I'm being nice with this review. If Amazon let me I would actually give this product a -Negative star rating because I don't believe it deserves even 1 star.

The desk was super easy to assemble, my husband literally put it together in under half an hour and didn’t need the directions. It’s very sturdy but you need to utilize the optional wall anchors otherwise it may wobble a bit. AAA+
