Dolenor Hidden Door Hinge, Door Pivot Hinges for Hidden Door Bookcase, Secret Door, with Door Ball Catch Hardware (I Type)I can tell this is a lighterweight door hinge set and while it will clearly hold some weight it does not have the thickness and heft of regular butt hinges you would put on a front door. Yes, a front door is side hung and you would put 3, 4 or 5 butt hinges on, this is bottom weighted so not as critical as gravity is doing the work and there is less leverage forces involved. I will use this but I will not go anywhere near the stated 200lb load.Thank you for reading my review and looking at my photos of this product. I ordered these hinges at the request of my building contractor. However, the door swings correctly and it doesn't squeek. Sounds perfect to me!!!

These hinges seem like they would be good for both the hidden feature they boast as well as alternatives for other hinges but they didn't come with any instructions. I'm not sure how you would release the hinge for the secret door once they are installed and without any instructions that makes it even harder to figure out. they do have good build quality and seem like they would hold up but without an understanding on how to use them I'm hesitant to put them to use.

We did some remodeling which caused me to lose an access door to a mothers attic area. The only place to put the door was going to make it unsightly so I wanted to install a hidden door instead. Unfortunately the cost of pre-made hidden doors is pretty high so I wanted to go the DIY route so I bought this hinge and gave it a go. You can see from the pics that the results speak for themselves. when closed, it fits perfectly and the hinge works better than anticipated. It fully supports the weight of the door and there is no sagging at all. It does include some instructions but I had to watch some videos online on how to fit and set everything up. It took some time fitting everything and getting lined up perfectly, especially since walls and floors are not always as square as you want them to be, but thats where trim comes into play. In the end, I was very happy with the setup and I would recommend it if you are looking to do the same. One word of advice... it comes with an adjustable ball retention device. You can either put it on the bottom opposite the side the hinges are on or put it at the top opposite the hinges (like I did in my picture). The goal is when it is closed, you want to take the weight off the hinges. I found that it is MUCH easier to adjust the ball catch when it is installed in the side like I did. I couldn't adjust it on the bottom without removing the hinges which would be a nightmare if its already a tight fit!
