perfect in a jiffy for that 2x closer shot.
lovely addition to my lens collection.perfect for a little extra when you need it in a jiffy and don't have your telephoto handy. Accurate X2 ....:) :) The other reviews are wrong. This is a fine quality product. Here it is with a 55mm lens and 55mm with the 2X teleconverter.I own real telephoto lenses and this result is quite satisfactory.

Know how to use it.
It's alright to a certain point. Alot of the bad reviews is not knowing how to use it and the limitations of it on your lens. I got mine today. And at first thing I noticed, was the blurring on the sides of the pictures I was taking at 100mm to 250mm. It's not for use with a telephoto lens. It's mostly for any lens up to 100mm. Plus some people use auto focus. That's another mistake people make. You have to use manual focus. I'm using a canon rebel t3 that came with the 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses. Also have a 50mm lens that I will use it on. I will be adding some pictures using it later.

poor lens
The lens is poor. It does not AF for Nikon 55-300mm. I can not comment on the quality of picture it produces because I can not use it with my lens. It won't focus. It is usable in manual but I want AF lens.

Love this lens
Love this lens. I spend a lot of time shooting wildlife in Labrador, and having a doubler really helps to bring the action a lot closer without having to use a cumbersome long telephoto lens. Vivitar makes a decent quality product for the price, and is reliable. Make certain you order the correct size for your camera, and grab it at the sale price of under ten bucks, what a steal!

Ok lens
I paid $11 shipped. Not bad for the price. I was hoping to get a little more tele compared to my Canon TC-DC58 1.5x. Normally the higher the magnification the greater the tele, but with my test camera - Olympus XZ-1, they both resulted in the same magnification. This is likely a result of the Vivitar is spec'd for a larger (slr) lens versus the Canon (prosumer) lens. Color wise, the Canon was the clear winner with colors faithful to that of my Olympus XZ-1.It's a good lens if - (1) you're ok with a quick auto adjust of colors in photo editing, (2) the tele is 1.5x equivalent on a prosumer cam, (3) $11 shipped is a steal. Now, if you have a nice camera like the XZ-1, I would consider a nice used Canon TC-DC58 1.5x for about $25 shipped, or for more tele a Raynox DCR-1850 Pro 1.85x for about $50 shipped.

Misinformed Reviewers...please read!
most reviewers on here are trying to use this lens in the most ridiculous ways. These lenses are meant to be boost the quality and control of portable devices like smartphones or iPads. DO NOT use these on a DSLR! That's not what they're for, and never were created for such! If you want to create better videos on your iPad or other tablet, this lens is for you.

Great iPad/PadCaster add on!
If you have an iPad and want to shoot video, you need a PadCaster! And if you have a PadCaster, you need this lens, as well as the wide angle lens that is also available.I'm trying to convince PadCaster that they need to make a "turret" that can accommodate three lenses.—Steve Gottry, Author, Screenwriter, Video Producer.
