the Red lights work fine, but...I tried this after a friend lent me her belt, made by a different company. She spent HALF the price of this unit, but it was SO helpful that I researched belts on Amazon and this one LOOKED good, had some decent reviews, but was $90 USD... and man was this a disappointment.The Red Light panel is insultingly small. It did not even reach across my back. Yes, I am not a Size 0, but TWO other belts I have tried were easily six to eight inches/20 cm wider and even a few inches/cm taller too boot.Add to this that the power pack pouch AND the plug to run it through an electrical plug are placed on the back of the red light band... meaning, even if you plug it into the wall, you cannot rest against a chair or pillows at all; the plug and the pack dig into your back, hip, etc, PAINFULLY.Last, they KNOW this was made too short, so they 'conveniently' sent it with a extension band. However, to use it, I had to fold one side over so it could be connected and hold the belt in place. the extension is narrow and folds over and is uncomfortable. Again, two other belts were tested and they were long enough to not need this extension.So, while the red lights work well, this product is poorly designed so it is awkward, too small for even slender women, never mind any males needing this for their Backs, and that placement of the power plug, utterly thoughtless and renders using this for your back impossible. Its very small size might make it useful for say, using on legs or shoulders, but a different, longer belt would also work for other parts of the body AND the back.I am sorry to have to be this seemingly harsh, but I was deeply disappointed, and they DID return it without a fuss, but I wasted time and Money too. I got a different belt for half the price and lo! More lights, a longer and very comfortable belt, no need for an extension, and the power input and pocket for a power pack are set three inches/7.5 cm away from the actual red lights.I've already used it 3-4 times a day since the new one arrived since I've had to move snow off my driveway while having a broken back and neck that hurts BADLY after such work.So, be careful if you get this one, the controller is cordless, but still won't let you sit while using it, unless you want to have hard and painful things digging into your back at the same time.EDIT - The Merchant has written to me PRIVATELY FOUR TIMES trying to beg and bribe me into removing this review.I am going to forward all these messages to Amazon, because everything I said was FACTUAL. This product is half the size as the nearly perfect and different product I bought for HALF this price. There was NO thought about comfort or functionality, or VALUE for the dollars charged for this product. Promises that these issues will be "fixed" do not comfort me, and the four different emails and offers of a ten dollar bribe, I mean, gift card as an apology for a $89 item that I desperately needed to use and could not actually work with, really?Amazon Customer Service/Merchant Services really needs to review this merchant immediately. I felt scammed, not just disappointed, but scammed, upset, my Chronic Pain was so horrible which was why I even tried this thing. And then to have it be so small [Literally less than HALF the Red Lights that every other and less expensive belt offers at twice the cost, and then I have to return it [I had to pay a friend to come to my home, pick it up, take it to town, and had to send her the return QRC code, which was a pain in the hind end] And wait days for a different one to arrive...I am not removing this. I DO expect them to cease sending me Emails every few days. I do not want a bribe. I am not going to lie to make them feel better. $10 is a pathetic offer as a bribe anyway, when this thing is $90!

I am looking to switch from a standard heating pad to an infrared. This item seemed to have good reviews but upon arrival could not see why that was.Overall the materials feel cheap. The remote is flimsy and has to be charged to even use the belt; they did not st d it charged even a little.You have to then stay plugged in with the belt - no problem except the cord is really short. Yes, there is a portable option but you have to purchase a charger pack. To get a decent one could end up costing as much as the belt.Returning.
