You receive 10 pieces of metal finger guards for your sewing machine. The finger guard appears to be functional after installation. I gave this item 3 stars because I thought it was a bit difficult to figure out how to install so some simple instructions would have been helpful. Plus, on my Singer HD machine, it was fairly difficult to install. This is a low-shank machine, fairly common, so the issue was that you have to remove the presser foot assembly and place the small spiral between the assembly and the shank itself. I had difficulty doing this on my own since I needed three hands. I had to get my husband to help me and he eventually was the one who got it installed. The screw is barely long enough on the presser foot assembly to reach through to fit into the screw hole with the additional width of the metal on the finger guard. I don't know if I will be able to do it on my own the next time I need to remove the assembly. Hopefully it will remain in place until then with the vibration of sewing. I have not tried this finger guard on a high shank machine since my Juki is out in my sewing shed; maybe it will be easier on it, I'm not sure. Once installed, however, the guard looks like it will do what it is supposed to do.
