Super simple fun. You don't have to use the included pens but it does make it easier. Dries fairly quickly. Only wish it was a bit more rigid, it crumples extremely easily when walked/crawled on.

This mat is incredibly fun! It comes with several water-filled pens of varying tip sizes and various shaped stamps that can be dipped in water and pressed onto the mat. The effect is quite neat; you can draw with water, and when the water evaporates, the marks disappear, allowing for repeated use. The mat is quite large, and the colors are lovely. However, after only four uses by my four-year-old, some of the white coating began to rub off. Initially, the wear was along the fold line, but after further use, it spread across the mat, diminishing its color-changing capabilities. The overall quality seems rather questionable.

As the 'paint' dries, it fades, meaning the kids have a brand new canvas to draw on in a shrt period of time.That's the only drawback; the pictures don't last long very long.As for the mat itself, it seems fairly robust and ready to stand up to normal use by small ones as they draw. The markers are easy to use, and cleanup is a breeze. The fun thing is watching my older grandkids plpay along with the younger ones.If you need an activity for a rainy day, this is one you might consider.

This “art mat” is a VERY entertaining birthday gift for my 4yr old grand daughter! The mat is large enough for her to move around on the floor and “draw”.I don’t believe it would provide much entertainment for children older than 6 or 7, since it’s entirely obvious that you’re wetting canvas to reveal the images below, but adults will love it, since the “markers” are just tubes you fill with tap water.I wonder if edge stitching will hold up for long periods of use, is my only concern. If the child is young enough though, hours of entertainment and wonder are priceless! (My grand daughter says “omg nanny! It’s MAGIC!”, well worth in my opinion!
