The Union Jack Les Paul guitar I received is very, very good
The media could not be loaded. I just wanted a nice looking stage guitar with a Union Jack design on the front and found this on Amazon. I've never purchased a guitar off Amazon before and will likely never do so again... except for maybe the Leo Jaymz US flag SG-style electric. That's because this Les Paul style guitar is really quite good. I own mostly Gibson/Epiphone and Fender/Squier electric guitars, but this Leo Jaymz LP guitar is no slacker. I know there are several guitar manufacturers that make good LP, Strat, and Tele style guitars, but I've never heard of Leo Jaymz.Whoever Leo Jaymz is, this guitar is a solid player and the body art is excellent. The Union Jack design is not a sticker/skin and looks very good. The guitar is a bit lighter than either my Gibson or Epiphone LP Standard 60s, but it also doesn't feel or play like a cheap guitar. I'm not a guitar snob who needs to be critical of every part of a guitar, but I know a good guitar when I play it. This is a good guitar. The nut, bridge, the saddle, the volume and tone knobs, the fretboard, and the tuners were all in order. No fret buzz (i.e., no high frets needing to be filed down), the fretboard was straight, and the nut slots seated the strings just right. The action (string height) was just right, and I only needed to adjust the intonation of the 4th, 5th, and 6th strings a bit. I oiled the fretboard and will polish all 22 frets later when I change the strings, which are very playable out of the box.The fret ends are rough (expected; update: I have since filed down the fret ends and the guitar plays much, much smoother) and the string slots on the metal bridge saddles needed to be smoothed out (unexpected; I sacrificed a nylon pick to use as a "file" to smooth the string slots). Those were the quality issues I had, but the overall quality of the guitar still exceeded my expectations. The humbuckers sound good through my Vox AC30, so all of the electronics are fine. The guitar will definitely work on stage. I haven't opened up the panel to examine the pots yet, and probably won't unless one of the humbuckers stops working well.If you have the tools and know how to set up a guitar yourself, this guitar is truly a bargain considering I paid just under $200 for it. If you don't have the tools or know-how to do a guitar setup, my advice is to first have in mind (before you buy this guitar) a friend or someone else willing to help you do the setup.I would consider you very fortunate if, like me, you bought and received one in excellent condition.Update: I uploaded a video clip - iPhone 16 mic, VOX AC30 amp head, VOX 2x12 cabinet, Wampler compressor/boost pedal, BOSS DM-2w Delay pedal, BOSS RV-6 Reverb pedal, both humbuckers (middle switch position).

Absolutely beautiful!
I recently decided I wanted to learn to play. Like everything I know zero about, I started researching like a madman. All I knew was that I wanted a Les Paul style guitar. It came down to this and another Chinese copy at the same price. I liked the black/silverburst with a pickguard of the other brand better, but this one was the 3rd best selling solid body guitar on Amazon, the other was in the mid 400's. Reviews for this guitar were better and more of them, this particular color was one of three that had the upgraded alnico 5 pick-ups and its a beautiful match for the colors our house is decorated in, which meant the wife would be perfectly fine with me hanging it in the living room. So I went with it.When it arrived, the box had been opened and taped closed again with Amazon labeled tape. I thought, oh no, it was returned for some reason. Luckily the issue was obvious right away. The bridge pick-up was installed with the bottom edge of the pick-up cover sitting on top of its saddle rather than down inside it. It was nearly touching the strings. A few twists of the screwdriver and a little push allowed the pick-up to drop into its proper position. Upon inspection everything else looked perfect, not just perfect but amazing. The finish is flawless like glass, knobs and tuners all move equally and smooth, pick-up selector is solid and sets with a confidence inspiring click. No sharp fret ends and all frets level. I spent a solid hour trying to find a flaw and couldn't. Although I'm not a guitar player yet, I've handled plenty of instruments as a singer and a sound manager for local bands and this is as beautiful as any high end guitar I've ever touched. Actually the finish is even better than most $2,500 guitars I've handled. So, the next step was taking it to a music store for set-up and inquire about lessons. The guitar tech tuned it, looked it over closely and said it was pretty good right out of the box, but I paid $60 for a set-up anyway. He adjusted the truss rod slightly and set intonation, put on a set of Ernie Ball strings and hydrated the fretboard. When I picked it up today he asked what I paid for the guitar. I was afraid he was about to tell me it was cheaply made. So, I told him $180 and his jaw hit the floor. He said he would have guessed $600-$700!!! He was surprised at the quality and even the sound through my little 10w Marshall practice Amp. With the O/D switched on it sounded like Zakk Wylde, switched to the bridge pick-up and clean setting is was crisp and sweet. I told him I'd just ordered an Epiphone SG Special as well and he said I should have gone with this brand again. We'll see if he feels that way after the SG arrives, but I think he may be right.Update: The Epiphone SG arrived. It looks very nice but the tuners are pure junk! The gear tolerance makes them almost un-usable. I'll replace them with Hip Shot locking tuners but the holes from the trapezoid inclosed tuners are going to show from under the backing plates. That's a real bummer for a brand new purchase. The Epiphone SG Special also only has one volume and one tone knob where the Leo has the traditional two each for each pickup.I'd say I've learned quite a bit about the difference between a "big name" low end guitar and a new "no name" company manufacturing affordable guitars to the highest standard to build a reputation.I'd say the new guys are trying a lot harder.

Buy it!
Good quality for the price. It’s a beautiful guitar. It’s comparable to my Gibson Les Paul’s. However, I am going to change the machine heads. The ones that came on it are not bad but not great. But for this price I who cares. Regardless, this is an excellent purchase. Thank you Leo James. Cheers
