The installation was straightforward, once I removed the trim around my rearview mirror. For this model of Audi, that means opening the sunglasses holder, and removing the torx bolt inside it, which allowed me to lower the entire ‘overhead light & home link unit’ from the headliner. There was no need to disconnect any wires. The trim piece above the mirror comes off easily after that. The toughest part was getting into the tight space above the mirror to unplug the 3-pin connector. The new cable was short enough to easily conceal inside the trim piece. This product has been a great addition to my 2017 Audi A8L. It gave my dash cam install a really clean look.

This power unit provides exactly what it promises. The installation instructions are adequate, but just adequate. It did not indicate exactly which of multiple nearby connectors I needed to use, but I was able to match it up in a short time. In my 2024 Audi Q5, the power wire that required disconnection and then reconnection through this unit's pigtail was a bear to get to, in a very tight spot, but I managed. An absolute beginner might get frightened away and give up but a moderately confident DIYer will cope. The installation kit did include a little plastic "pry bar" tool for popping the plastic concealment off of the mirror base as well as high quality double sided tape. For the first time in 5 years, my car does not have a wire run from a usb charger through the dash board and then tucked precariously into the window surround where it gets pulled out. Like I told my wife, "if I say I'll fix something, I'll get it fixed - there's no need to nag me every SIX MONTHS." She likes it. It has restored her faith in my ability to finish something nicely. I don't know if it is true of all cars but in mine, this thing seems to be powered at all times regardless of ignition status. I do wish it had a simple on/off switch to kill it if I put the car in long term storage.

I think this is a great product that is ideal for powering a dashcam, but unfortunately it is next to impossible to install in a 2023 VW ID.4 (manufactured in the US). Removing the housing behind the rear view mirror is hard enough, but then just when you think you've overcome the biggest hurdle, you're in for a surprise ... you simply cannot unplug the existing rain sensor connector because there's barely enough room in there to slide your finger in or for that matter any tool. I tried for over 30 minutes just to get the connector unplugged, but gave up when the edges of the connector started deforming. I couldn't actually test this product, so note that the rating is more for the applicability to the VW ID.4 (US model) rather than the product itself.

Very easy to install, will fit most of VW. I installed it on my jetta and everything works great. Better than having to hide all the wiring from dash cam around the vehicle. Satisfied and worth every penny. Good luck!

This little “power dongle” is a game changer when it comes to powering dash accessories. It fit perfectly into my 2025 Audi Q3 rear view mirror and has the ability to power accessories like a dash cam and a radar detector simultaneously. The digital screen shows the current drawn which is very helpful in monitoring the electrical load connected. It is very well made and the included harness and short cable connectors mean you have a complete package. No more running unsightly wires across the headliner and down the A pillar to your 12V outlet or fuse box. Let’s hope it lasts.

Used it to install a vantrue nexus n4 pro. It worked just fine, the unit appeared to look used though. there were micro scratches all over the little display. Not worth returning but minus 1 star for that

Small, compact power source for my dashcam. Fit my Audi S5 rear view mirror perfectly. Easy installation. Great quality. Have had no issues with it after 6 months of daily use. Love the fact it has a 12v output if you need that.
