It's pretty ridiculous that Dyson put such a cheap plastic switch in an expensive vacuum. Then the switch is buried in such a way that essentially the whole machine must be dismantled to get to it.But it is a very doable project, and the included tools are great for someone who doesn't have such items around. How to videos were easy to find on YouTube.I'm confident that the metal construction of the switch will hold up better to wear and tear than the original.

Not easy to install (look for youtube videos - you need to dismantle almost the entire thing) but worth it. $10 to repair and not rocket science, just effort. You will need a torx bit for a few of the screws.

Headline kinda sums it up. If you can do the manual work to get this thing installed, it works well and is FAR superior to the stock one. But beware - the manual labor is pretty intensive. Make sure you have the right tools and a lot of patience. I only knocked off a star because this one was slightly tighter than the stock one and didn't pull quite as smoothly. Minor niggle though.

Works perfectly, durable and something you will need to replace eventually. Very tedious to replace, but with a little patience, it's possible.

To install this trigger would require taking our vacuum apart and even disturbing the motherboard. My husband tried to wire it on externally to aid in working g the vac but this was not stable or helpful. I should have sent it back.

Our Dyson V10 vacuum is over 3 years old and already got aftermarket replacement battery which was way cheaper and has better running capacity than the original. This time the poorly designed/engineered plastic trigger cracked inside the handle. Watched 3 YouTube versions on fixing/replacing the trigger and found out this is a common problem. Instead of trying to fix the crack with glue, I found this upgraded Metal trigger switch with beefier design for under $10. I also bought a Torx T8 screwdriver bits with extension and magnet tip for $9 (there are 3 Torx T8 screws involved). I knew that this trigger fix is quite involved but with patience and knowing that my wife will be happy, I repaired the V10 for $19 total and about 30 minutes time.Most care and time was involved in removing the trigger assembly from the handle and then putting it back without destroying the small and thin wire with a tiny white plastic plate. This replacement metal trigger switch by Jedeleos works great and Dyson should have designed/engineeered such from the beginning.KenT

This is a fantastic kit with everything you could possibly need to replace the trigger. The video they include at the link does an excellent job of explaining how to do the job yourself. If you have have a basic level of skill, you should be able to follow along without any problem - I did.
