A Powerful DIY-friendly Performer
I'll try to keep my review comprehensive and/or practical since there are so few reviews on this page at the moment. Below is my more-or-less exact use case.Room: BedroomRoom size: 14.5ft x 11.75ft (supposedly 170 square feet)Ceiling type: Sloped (as opposed to leveled or vaulted)Ceiling height from floor: 10.65ft (at the central point of the room where the fan is located. The actual apex of the ceiling is perhaps another foot higher or slightly less.)Fan's actual height from floor: 8ft (estimated from the LED light, not the blades, which are higher up than the light by inches.)My location: A small(er) city in southern California where temps can be as high as 117F (47.2C).Right, so that should be enough of a snapshot. This review will focus on three metrics: ease of installation, performance, and perceived value relative to the price. If you want the short version up front, I'll simply say this fan turned out to be overkill for my scenario and far surpassed every expectation in all categories. For those who want more detail, that'll be below.Installation:I'll preface by saying my experience is quite limited. I've done a fair bit of handy-work myself but cannot by any stretch consider myself an expert nor necessarily competent. I just know how to read instructions. I did have my father around, however, who's been an engineer for decades. That said, he mainly supplied the tools and helped me put the blades on — I handled the mounting and wiring. The installation is reasonably simple, and the wiring is thankfully better than just manageable — it's flat out tidy and plug-n-play. There're the hot, neutral and ground wires which you'll have to join to those of your room's source wiring, but the receiver's connection to the fan you just plug in, no more stray wires. What I will say though is that, if you're like me and do not have internal wiring in your ceiling, you will need to "modify" the top housing which covers up the mounting and wiring system. The housing is metal but is thin, so you can easily either cut or grind an opening into the housing in order for external wiring to feed through. Just remember to smooth out whatever was cut or ground, since the external wiring is being fed through that opening. Otherwise, if your room already has internal wiring in the ceiling for you to connect the fan, you have nothing to worry about.Another thing I needed to do was buy mounting screws that're more appropriate for my situation. There is quite a bit of drywall between my ceiling and where the wood begins, so for the mounting bracket, I believe I bought grade 6 wood screws. To clarify, the fan comes with every screw necessary for mounting, fastening the blades, and installing the light. Nothing is missing, but since the drywall was so thick, I needed screws of greater girth and length in order to reach the wood and have a fully secure install. As the product info says, this fan weighs 40lbs, so if you have my situation here too, absolutely do not cut corners here. The screws cost next to nothing if needed, barely a few dollars.Had it not been for the mod I made to the housing and the trip to Lowe's to buy screws, I could have completed the installation in under one hour, with or without help. The instructions are straightforward, the wiring is neatly done, and the ability to suspend the fan by inserting the ball in the mounting bracket allows you to work with both hands, meaning this is feasibly a 1-person job if you have no choice. I think someone with little experience and little to no help could manage an installation in 45 minutes to an hour. If they have a better room situation than I do, such as a level ceiling, internal wiring, etc., it'd be even faster.Performance:It's a monster, point-blank. Sorry to take the long route again, but I'll have to paint this picture. Previously, I used two fans simultaneously. I had a ceiling fan which the house originally came with, some decades-old thing. I paired this with a Vornado 660 and years later replaced the 660 with a Vornado VFAN Sr. Pedestal. The old ceiling fan was on full speed to drag the hot air down, and the Vornado was on full speed facing the window, to push that heat out of the bedroom. During evenings, especially summer evenings, this was effective enough to drop ambient temperatures by several degrees, and this room was oft the coolest in the entire house—garage included—despite being upstairs. The Vornado 660 lasted me about...eight years of daily, multi-hour use before the bearings started screeching and seizing the motor. I took the 660 apart very recently for maintenance (cleaned and oiled) and it started working like new again. Why am I telling this story?Well, I decided to combine all three of my fans: my old ceiling fan, my 2-year-old Vornado Sr. Pedestal, and my restored Vornado 660. All three fans ran full speed on a triple-digit summer day, with the ceiling fan dragging the hot air down and both Vornado units facing the window to force the heat outdoors. The next day, I installed this Autoday ceiling fan. The Autoday ceiling fan at half-power alone utterly annihilated the performance of all three of my older fans combined. The temps which took my trio of fans hours to achieve, this new ceiling fan exponentially surpassed in mere minutes. The ambient temperatures that my bedroom sits at now are numbers that're physically impossible for my other fans to ever come near. The Autoday is several classes above, and this is when it's on speed 3. If you recall from the product info summary, there are *six* speeds on this thing. Even with outdoor temperatures brushing right up against 110F right now, I can't bring myself to set the speed any higher than 4. As I type this, I have a PC and a discrete headphone sound system which typically generate a ton of heat, yet this ceiling fan works so well, I can wrap my hand around my amplifier's fully exposed tube and hold it there no problem. Normally something like that would burn my hand in an instant, but now it's warm at the most, not hot at all.Value:Is this ceiling fan worth $260? Well, considering this $260 fan just retired over 400 dollars' worth of alternatives by outperforming them several times over without even using full speed, plus being comparatively whisper-quiet? Yeah, if you live in a desert climate like I do, stop reading and just buy. The installation's easy, the performance is off-the-wall insane, and if you have electronics that benefit from lowered ambient temperatures, this'll help. Possibly a lot. I didn't even mention the LED light yet, but I'll just say that the old dual lamps flanking my bed are now purely decoration; they've been unplugged ever since. In summary, don't balk at the price — the performance is there. If you have a large room (my room obviously isn't), you'll want something of this size and power, if not larger. If you have a small room, this may turn out to be more than what you actually want in terms of power, even during the summer when you'd think you need it most. Obviously the granularity in speed settings will offset some of that, but if you're like me and have delicate activities like reading or handwriting, be prepared for your papers to constantly launch off of wherever you lay them, if they're not weighed down or clamped. Of course, this is a much better problem to have than dehydration. Combine this with a little bit of A/C and you'll be in a fridge. Stellar product. There's nothing more I can say other than I'm glad I took a chance on this brand I'd never heard of.Edit [07/11/24]: I forgot to mention that I, the day after installation, decided to run some dual fan tests again. I brought out the Vornado Sr. Pedestal one more time and aimed it at the window on full blast to see if the room temp would drop any further than it already has. With my years-old fan setup, I normally could tell a positive difference within two hours at the most. After over five hours of combining the Autoday and Vornado, I gave up and concluded there is no added benefit. This ceiling fan on its own had already thrown the maximum possible heat out the window without any need for a Vornado to push air in any specific direction. There was no perceivable difference in coolness. In other words, this ceiling fan is the one and only fan this room will ever need. At any rate, if you're suffering while shopping for a new ceiling fan and have the option of pushing heat out the window, I highly recommend that strategy until you do have a serious, high-performance ceiling fan come in. Many people make the mistake of keeping heat trapped inside and coping by aiming a fan directly at themselves. By aiming your fan at an open window, this loosely simulates the function of air conditioning, which is the relocation of heat. The concept of "cold" can be thought of as the "absence of heat," so if you take that heat and "move" it outdoors, that in the long run addresses the problem far more thoroughly than simply aiming a fan's breeze at oneself. As for the ceiling fan itself, yep, still loving it, and it's still performing so flawlessly, I can't even hear it. I'm still trying to get used to having all of the breeze with none of the noise. My bedroom has never been this quiet.

This things blows
I finally got this fan installed this week and I’m impressed with it? The instructions were easy to follow and assembly was very easy. What I like is it comes with 3 size extension poles for tall ceilings. I have a standard size ceilings so I used the short pole. I also like the wireless remote and its button layout. It fits nice in my hand. Now this fan blows. With so many blades it really keeps the air moving. This may be much for my small room but it’s hot in California.Overall this is a great product and I recommend it.The quality of this product

Airflow problem with Autoday 84” fan
Hi Autoday,I recently bought one of your 84” fans, model number 84-1199BK-12.The fan was professionally installed and all features appear to be functioning properly. The problem is that there is very little or no airflow even at the highest fan speed. You can barely feel that there is a fan running above you.I am comparing the airflow with that of 65” and 72” fans that were installed the same day by the same professional.I have checked that the fan is blowing down. The fan is installed in the rear porch of the house and there is only one chair in the room. The porch dimensions are 12 feet long by 12 feet wide. The ceiling is 11 feet high from the floor. Two of the walls are solid, one wall is half solid/half screened, the fourth wall is screened from floor to ceiling. The fan is installed in the center of the room. The bottom of the lamp is 17 inches from the ceiling. We really like the looks of the fan but we need it to move the air in our porch which can get very hot.Any recommendations, advice, or guidance is really appreciated. Please let me know what other information I can provide to help you solve our fan problem.

Moves air and quiet with light adjustment.
The media could not be loaded. Fan is large and fills the room with plenty of air movement, even on speed one.Fan looks nice and is built well. The tone of the light can be changed to match your current lights. It will remeber what you set it to so the next time you turn it on it will be set to that. Also has a brightness change.Connected it using the Bond device that can be purchased separately, highly recommend this for all your remote controlled fans.Customer service is outstanding with them. Had some small issues and they immediately responded and helped. Great company that stands behind their product 100%.

Failed early; not sure about outdoor suitability
Not sure if this product should be outdoor rated. My light failed after 1 day. I got replacement parts, but I opened the failed part to see if it could be repaired as a backup. I don’t see any conformal coating on the PCB. I see a burn mark on the failed one.As for the 84” fan, it doesn’t push that much air even on 6.Not sure I would recommend this one.It is very quiet. And the light has selectable color temperatures, which is great.Installation was easy, but I had to repair it which is annoying. The blades on the wood side look poorly printed but when spinning you cannot tell.

Great fan!
Great fan! Works great it is quite and light gives off a lot of light. I brought two of these and happy with them both. The look is just like the picture and it’s easy to clean.
