"I was recommended to buy this product for a present for a friend who loves growing all sorts of plants.I had been given one myself , some time ago as a gift and I have been delighted with it, and I thought is was a great unusual present idea.I also researched the Cloudberries website, which was impressive, I decided they were an established business making innovative quality products, which is why I chose them.I love the look of this vase, and the packaging is fresh and bright.It comes extremely well packed ( so easy to send on if need be) with a full set of instructions on how to germinate your seed and get going.I found watching the seed grow fascinating. The tap root grew long and strong and once you get your first green glossy leaves it becomes a real plant. Of course as per any living plant in water, like cut flowers, orchids etc. you do need to be careful when lifting the seed to add fresh water regularly as it does evaporate. I recommend, lifting the growing seed slowly,only touch the stone not the roots, but no removing completely, just move it to one side, enough to run the tap water into the vase. This will give the plant the oxygen it needs to continue growing and gaining strength.It's a lovely thing to watch grow both the leaves sprouting up from the seed and the roots below the water which we never see with our plants in pots.My plant grew to around 10 inches (see photo) in the vase before I felt it was time to carefully plant it in a medium size pot with compost.It took a good couple of weeks for it to settle, nothing happened during this time. Then in week 3 it started to grow again and has grown a further 8 inches! the leaves are strong, green and glossy and I will need to give it some support very soon.Overall, this product is delightful, very attractive, good value and I would highly recommend it for yourself and/or a gift.Happy growing! Vase is as described and is visually appealing and a neat way to grow an avocado seed. However be careful if placed in direct sunlight as the design of the vase can focus the sunlight and burn surfaces/cause a fire

It's a glass bowl - made from quite thin glass - with a shaped neck to catch a seed nut and allow it to germinate into the (soon to become stagnant) water-filled vaselike bowl.It's a good idea, until it isn't!Without regular refreshing or other oxygenation of the water, even the purest water will turn stagnant and start to go green as organic matter builds up (from dust to dirt). Therefore, like aquariums, continuously oxygenating or replacing half of the water regularly is a necessity to prevent algal formation as oxygen depletes to prevent nitrogen beginning to dominate. Not so much of a difficulty or problem with an aquarium containing fish. However, when you are talking about the delicate early root structures of a germinating plant - no matter whether they are aquatic or soil-based - root disturbance is to be avoided.Damage the root hairs (feeder root parts that are first to take on water and nutrition) and you damage the seedlings ability to survive & establish new root structures. Yet, to preevnt stagnation from overly rich water that is depleted of oxygen, you have to be physical wth the vase to remove some water with increased potential to damge the roots.As part of an experiment to show kids how root structures form (whilst planting a second seed nut in the correct growth medium), this could be of use if you prevent the water going green and can prevent damage tro the roots for as long as possible. But be aware and sure that you KNOW this... the plant you start in this vase will not develop into a healthy full-size plant. And, you have low likelihood of success if you try to remove the plant when the root structure has started to fill the bowl.tl;dr - This is an expensive way to disappoint yourself if you don't plant a second seed, correctly, in a pot.

Really impressed with the quality of this product for the price….

Really disappointed with this product.We just couldn’t get it to grow, despite following the instructions carefully.It was meant to be a fun way for my daughter to grow something herself, but sadly, it didn’t work at all.It was a real shame as we were excited to try it.Maybe it’s just us, but I wouldn’t recommend it based on our experience.

My daughter can involve her young son with this present. It might inspire the youngster to discover how plants/tree's grow. If successful and the tree is planted, they will have a lifetime of memories watching it grow.

I grew up growing avocado plants out of pits - it’s just what we did with toothpicks and a glass of water.This is a very nice vase, and priced accordingly - its main function is to be able to suspend the avocado pit so it doesn’t fall completely under water - that’s it.I haven’t tried it yet but I know how to grow an avocados - this will do the trick but it’s nothing special. It looks really cool and is well made so that gets four stars from me.

This avocado seed vase has a nice design and it is aesthetically pleasing. I followed the propagate instruction and now see the seed is cracked and the sprout is coming out. This is my first attempt so I'm very happy with the result. However, it needs more time for the root to grow before I can move the seed to the vase. This vase is priced at £29.99 which I think is a little expensive. I think it is still quite a reasonable price considering that it is a niche product with great instructions, great packaging and a beautiful design. I would highly recommend it as a gift to any plant lovers.Update 7 December 2024: it took over a month for the seed to sprout since the rooted seed was placed into the vase. I'm very pleased with the result and the latest picture is attached.
