Q: Is the surface of this mat smooth? I want to be able to slide my monitor and keyboard easlily.

It's got a pebble finish but you shouldn't have trouble sliding a keyboard. There's probably not enough room for a monitor and keyboard. I also find that it slides around my desk. A bit annoying.

Q: Has anyone else experienced a weird odor? I just inboxed mine and the smell is giving me horrible headaches...

I'm on day two after placing it on the desk last night. I got a headache last night and now I'm starting to get a headache again. I will let it sit outdoors in the sun for a day to see if that helps. If not, I won't be able to use this thing.

No! Acetone will ruin it. I know because I ruined a vinyl bench removing nail polish from my toes. Yes, it was acetone, not regular nail polish. But I wouldn’t let any nail polish touch my desk pad.

Q: Will it stick to the wood desk top when temperature is high (like in summer) and damage the wood?

Highly doubtful! These are great quality I have not noticed anything that would lead me to believe it would have some issue like that. I have Air Conditioning and that keeps the humidity down so that would be impossible, but even in a humid environment I think these would do well. I hope this helps.
