Sharp EL-W531 XH-GR Scientific Calculator WriteView Display Metallic Green with Battery 335 Functions for Grammar/Secondary School

This beats all my previous CASIOs. It has all the right engineering functions in the right places, and it's easy to use. Good to see the 'Exp' button there, with a handy 'negative' button. Great display too.

I had one since my first year in high school and it was very durable I used it until the start of this year which gave me roughly 6—8 years of active use time. I need to mention that I wasn't too caring during our time but it will last with your children too. I purchased my second one and it's the same durable build and layout I had for years. I would 100% recommend this brand and type. It’s an extra function that you can see the fraction and the decimal fraction, you can customise the logarithm and exponents.

Bad points:1) Display has lost definition in about a year. One line of the pixels is 'dead' so I cant tell the difference between a munus & a divid esign now. Pretty poor.2) reciprocal button is 2 clicks away. That's twice as far as it should be.3) Setting up defaults is not intuitive & takes ages. But that could just be me.Good points:1) all the functions needed for engineering & scientific calculations & notation are available2) can type in, see & edit whole equation before calculating answer.3) Comprehensive instructions come with the calculator & if you lose them, a copy is available on line.Having said all this, I am now about to order a second one.
