Simple and quick to use. Love it
Just bought a second one of these cos lost the first one on site.I think these are essential if working on lighting and very handy on other circuits, especially if ur unsure where they're fed from for ensuring safe to work on.Also handy if ur a non 'competent person' who gets stuck in stripping a place etc (not saying u should however), prior to the sparks coming on site to do an install.The red light is bright enough to see in bright places and it's quick to come on. Just putting the side of the nib within a few mm of the cable is usually enough to check if it's carrying voltage over the minimum 90v, or a quick run will do it. U do need to make sure that it doesn't come on due to static (rubbing on material etc), but not normally a problem with cables. Obviously doesn't work with shielded cables such as FP or SWA (armoured), unless u strip it back to the insulation of the conductor itself.I didn't see the point of one with a time, as can't normally hear that well on site anywayWould highly recommend and the price is decent

Was a cheap way to help fault finding
Was taking a look at a home wiring issue. I wanted to make sure the circuit was off before proceeding, the tip was lit when circuit was on, wasn’t lit when what was believed to be the appropriate circuit was off. Worked well and appeared to provide confirmation the circuit was safe to work on.

It works the way it is designed to.
Personally, I don't like it. I gave it away after only a couple of uses and got the DUO version. Heed my advice GET the DUO version!

DO NOT BUY... your life could depend upon it.
just come to use this product for the first time as it was a gift Christmas and guess what.. test a cable, hit or miss if it will work.. my coat pocket yes that works, pressing it against my stone work top it works and against a plug cable nothing.. basically I COULD HAVE KILLED MY SELF. its not at all reliable and NOT SAFE to be sold for such a serious use. Its about time Amazon had MINUS stars as this would rank minus 5.Worse I lent it my odd job man who asked "does this work" so we tested i... which it didnt, tried new batteries with no joy then by chance caught it going off in my coat pocket and realised having tested my bathroom tiles ... it goes off for anything.DANGEROUS...

Simple to use and can save a life
Bought this after getting electric shock on dishwasher. Helped confirm we had an electrical issue and were able to call electrician to fix.
