It probably wouldnt be smart to have an expensive phone in this while driving 70 mph with the doors off. Not a good idea right?

I think if you have the phone locked in you would be OK. The support rod is well built（Metal Material） and does anchor in with screws so the mount won't come out but if you hit a big enough bump at speed you might be able to dislodge the phone but it wouldn't be easy.
