One of the pics shows a small crack. After about 75 uses it finally happened. Developed a small crack so I’m going to have to retire this one. It’s been great up till now. 5 stars bc of the price and I’ve gotten sooo many uses out of it.No draw backs. It’s been a good one.

Fun small crucible set
Nice little crucible kit, with cups that are small and smaller. My 13 y/o son & I are having fun seeing which metal junk we can melt with my propane torch. Essentially a toy, with adult supervision, as any useful metal heating would require a much larger container.

Two good ceramic crucibles, one clamp that easily grips either one
This kit is perfect for melting down small quantities of metals. The measurements are accurate, the larger crucible is about 2.6" diameter and the smaller one is only 2" across, they nest neatly. Each one only holds a few tablespoons of material, so you're not going to be pouring hefty ingots with these but you can certainly melt down small bits, scraps and sprue and the like. Each one has one little pouring spout shaped into the edge to make life easier. The tongs are good: squeeze to spread, release to grab - so once the tongs are clamped onto whichever crucible you're using, you don't need to devote any muscle or attention to keeping it secure, you can be worrying only about handling the thing as a unit and focusing your attention on what is going on with whatever's inside the crucible. If I change my opinion for some reason I'll come back and edit this, but so far I'm very happy with what I've got.
