5" ModelPros:- Size: The board is quite small, it's just over 5" and about 1-3/8" tall. Perfect size to throw in a backpack or even a cargo pocket on some pants.- Magnetism: As advertised, the pieces have small magnets in them, there is a small sheet of metal inside of the board. Due to the thickness of the wooden tiles the magnetism isn't extremely strong, but the pieces won't move from small movements to the board or even turning it upside down. If you were to shake the board around with some force the pieces will slide a bit.- Drawer: To store the pieces there is a drawer, it slides out of either the left or right side of the board and has a small ball bearing on the side to lock it into place if you secure the drawer back into the board in the correct orientation. The drawer has foam cut outs in the shape of the pieces so they don't damage either other during travel.- Piece Design: I would call this style a sort of "simplified" Staunton style. The pieces appear quite standard, but aren't significantly detailed in any way, but are still easily identifiable.- Piece Size: The king is the tallest at about 3/4" tall, all the pieces are about the size of the metal bit that secures an eraser to a pencil. They're quite small, but not too small.Cons:- Knight/Horse design: While I understand that carving a wooden horse of this size is probably quite difficult, I would at least like them to be symmetrical. The Knights aren't particularly good looking and some of the carvings made into them are noticeably not centered or unsymmetrical. This doesn't hinder them being identified as Knights, but it is a bit disappointing- Board Tile Quality: I tried to line up the ruler with the bottom tile, you can see that some tiles are slightly larger or smaller than other tiles, by less than 1mm, but this does add up and makes the tiles a bit crooked. The board is still plenty playable and looks good from a distance, but if you get up close it is a bit disappointing that the tiles aren't perfectly straight.Notes:I like to pair a reading light with the board, especially one that has a clip like pictured if you want to hold the board. It's not required, but illuminating the board does make the pieces easier to identify. If you remove the drawer a reading light clips easily onto the bottom of the boardI would not recommend this for a small child due to the size of the pieces, especially if they have younger siblings, they may pose a choking hazard as the pieces are quite small. Ingesting magnets can also be quite dangerous and require surgery in some cases.

Gift for my chess loving son. Very stout and sturdy. Magnets keep pieces in place.

This was covered in dust. I couldn’t get the drawer open, because it was put in the wrong way. It looks like it’s been sitting in someone’s garage a while. The black pieces are not the same color, and Queen and the Bishop pieces are way too similar. 10/10 would NOT recommend. This is cheap trash.

I bought this chess set for my daughter who has gotten into chess. I wanted her to be able to play anywhere and challenge other people and get better. This is the perfect way!. I love how small the set is, but is still playable. Portable to fit into her purse or a pocket and able to take it anywhere.Highly recommended.

This little chess board is great and perfect for my boat. The magnets at this scale are strong enough to secure the pieces on the board from small bumps or even complete inversion, however they can and do tend to stick to other pieces now and then. Overall love it.

We just got this today and am really pleased with it. Seems really sturdy, the drawer doesn’t fall out when shaken and the magnetic are a good strength
