Silverline 929856 Silverstorm Multipurpose Sharpener, 65 W

Works OK even though seems a bit flimsy!

I chose this item because I was fed up manually sharpening my chisels and knives. I noticed it did drill bits upto 10 mm also. Bonus. Just spent the last 2 hours sharpening 15 chisels and 24 drill bits.Still need to use a wetstone just to get the burrs off. Remember it does reshape the chisel so the first time takes a little bit longer. Same with the drill bits, seems to be a little pointier. This machine has already earned its money. Not sure I could have replaced my chisel and drill bits ( of the same quality ) for much less than 100.00 pounds.Cant speak for other products but the reviews were great, hence why I chose it over others. Dont think you can go wrong for the money.Oh one last thing ease your bits in and dont try too hard too quickly. Softly, softly approach, you can hear the motor labour quite badly if you try too hard or set your chisels up incorrectly.

Well I bought this because it promised to allow pregrinding of chistle and plane blades, but its completely inadequate:1. the grit on metal grinding wheel leaves a very coarse finish.2. the Plane blade holder and slide was very notchy, needed the date code label to be filed off the slide surface, the entire assembly was springy/loose and moved easily making it impossible to make a straight smooth cut across my 2inch blade. I found it impossible to slide the blade holder while holding the blade and avoiding all the stray movement so ended with a wobbly (and rough) cut.3. the drill sharpener works, though like the blade holder it has lots of slop and leaves the same rough finish. You are left with manual skill to achieve an acceptable result, even then the rough finish is not really acceptable.Its a pity because the concept is excellent, but execution inadequate.Amazon have agreed to accept the return for refund.

I bought this item to sharpen some drill bits and to assess it's use for the other advertised functions. So far i have sharpened a few drill bits and have been pleased with the results. However the small sharpening wheel is a diamond grit covered steel part and leaves quite a coarse marking across the surface of the bit. This would be the same on anything sharpened with the tool and would leave scissors, for example, with quite a rough edge. Other sharpeners i have used over the years have had a fine grit stone wheel and these leave a better finish. my experiences with diamond grit covered items is that they are good for a while but would certainly not be as long lived as a stone wheel. However, that said, so far so good on a cheap enough product.

Purchased this to help sharpen chisels and drill bits. What a disappointment.!! This product was very poor quality and it was impossible to sharpen any tool. I have given 2 stars for the product, but would give 4/5 stars for the speedy customer service aftercare (complete with full refund). but the product was very poor quality, and thats why its 2 stars. Cheers.

This device is well designed and really easy to use. I ended up sharpening all my kitchen knives and all my drill bits. Sad so and so. But the results were excellent.

Arrived on time but sent back as it was absolute rubbish. Gone back to using bench grinder to sharpen drills.
