Q: Are the backs made of polyester?

The back is cotton and polyester. I just received them today and will be returning, since my son is sensitive to polyester.

Q: Will this fit a newborn infant?

They should fit a newborn but I wouldn’t recommend them. The velcro is very rough and scratchy and can hurt or scratch your baby’s neck as it happened to my baby.
