Q: why is it that a single tube (1) costs $5.19 but a 6 pack costs $51. when I went to school 6 x $5,19=$31.14 that is amazing, pay attention to price.

That is good question did not notice that at first.

Q: Can i use this on cat5/6 m/f connectors and/or in my switch? both are located outside in a roof box. to prevent moist or salt etc.

This is a gel-like substance it will not harden. Mainly needed to prevent seizing of parts such as rubber boots and other components like in vehicles, I don't see why it won't work in a non moving application. If you plan to use this as a sealer for the box, no. Rain will eventually work its way into the box since this grease is very malleable. It's the consistency of lotion in other words.

Q: Is this similar to 3m silicone paste?

No. No even close. Dielectric grease is a non-conductive, silicone-based grease that's designed to seal out moisture and prevent corrosion on electrical connectors.
