Gigantic model so you'll need plenty of space
This model, 1/72 scale, is about 2 1/2 feet long - just think about that for a second, and then realise how gigantic the actual plane would have been (57 metres according to Wikipedia; 187 feet!). The model is quite simple to make, there's not very many parts owing to it being a prototype, it never went into full production being instead used as a testbed for supersonic flight.I had a bit of a job joining the fuselage to the wings, and again joining the retractable wingtip section to the main wing. Plenty of filler required, but that is pretty much par for the course when it comes to these bigger models. You have the choice of the wingtips up or down, and a choice of different cockpit covers.Paintwise you can have any colour you like as long as it's white, though I have looked online and found some interesting "what if" camouflage schemes that you could use if you're feeling brave. The model is a fitting tribute to the second prototype, downed in an air accident in 1966 which cost two pilots their lives. Nice model and a fascinating if tragic history which is well worth reading up on.
