There is currently not another show and has not been another show since that is as good as this!
As a student, this series has been a great break from essays when I've needed it and the action always keeps me on the edge of my feet. I'm just gutted I was too young to watch it when it was broadcast on TV when it was popular. I've watched the first 3 seasons in the space of 3 months, and unlike other shows, there never seems to be a dull moment. One criticism for this season, though. The Kim being in danger storyline has happened way too many times over the previous 3 seasons, and as I'm aware *spoiler* that this was Elisha Cuthbert's last full season on the show *spoiler*, I just feel that they've done that story to the point the viewer was beginning to get a bit tired and weary of it. The whole of season 1, and the majority of season 2 was unlucky enough, but for a character to be the target 3 seasons running? It's just a tad unrealistic.I really warmed to Michelle a lot better this season, and in some aspects I enjoyed watching Reiko Aylesworth's portrayal of Michelle more than I did Keifer Sutherlands portrayal of Jack. Episodes 4-5, 9, 15-18 and 22 in particular were great for her character and really showcased what she is capable of as an actress.Once again Sarah Clarke and Penny Johnson Jerald do great jobs of portraying 24s characters you love to hate; Nina and Sherry. Nina was predictable, based on previous seasons, but we thought we knew Sherry at the end of season 2? She's more unhinged in Season 3, and the audience love Penny Johnson Jerald for it!I even warmed to Chapelle this season - and I was NOT a fan of his in the first two seasons. Wayne is a great addition to the Palmer family as well. It's a shame that James Bridge Dale had left after this season, as Chase was an extremely likeable character. Tony is great as always - to me, him and Jack are what make 24 what it is! We even got to see Zachary Quinto in his early career! My complaint would be that he was a tad underused and shame he left after season 3 with no explanation. On the other hand, we have Chloe, and she is a great addition to the cast. The baby storyline was a great idea, but I was kind of disappointed that it turned out to be a part of Kim's story arc rather than Chloe's. There's more to that character than there appears at the surface, and I guess in Season 4 we will get to dive a bit deeper into that. All in all, another great effort from the 24 cast. I literally finished watching the season minutes ago, and can't wait to get imminently stuck into what Season 4 has to bring! This has definetely made it worth signing up for the instant video service, but order the DVD if you want, I'm sure the extras will justify the cost as much as the episodes do.

The Most Addictive Programme To Hit Televsision ... Ever
24 is currently the most original piece of television I have ever seen. It has so much suspense and drama that it will leave you at the edge of your seat from the moment the clock starts ticking until the final episode! For those who have not seen this series, 24 is a programme that moves in real-time (i.e. one hour in the show equates to the hour you are watching it in, although it is actually 45 minutes as it has to allow for commercial breaks in the States)following the life of Jack Bauer, an agent trained in field operations and working for CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit)as well as the loyal and honest President David Palmer. At the end of each episode, you are left wanting to watch the next one and then the next one and then the next one and so on! In this third season of the series, it follows Jack Bauer as he tries to foil the release of a deadly virus into American society by terrorists, as Palmer tries to win re-election in office for a second term. From what I have seen of this series ( I am on episode 20 ), it has superseded season 2 and is definitely on a par with season 1. If you have never seen 24 before, you have to check it out as this is something you will definitely not regret experiencing. However, if you want the true 24 experience, watch 24 from season 1, as it will provide a richer experience of this amazing programme. Do not blame me though if you do not sleep for 24 hours after watching all 24 episodes in one go due to the sheer addiction and adrenaline pumping episodes that is 24. 24 has set a new standard and raised the bar in innovative television drama and it will be hard to beat!

Still a great show but not enough Jack - some spoilers
SPOILERS To write a balanced review I should mention that my 15 year old son said this was is favourite season, so far, of 24. It was my least favourite although I really enjoyed the last half dozen episodes. As usual David Palmer has a parallel storyline to Jack's. In time of crisis who should he call on to help him out, yes predictably it is his troublesome ex wife Sherri. After all that has worked out so well in the past! He seems to have forgotten the fact that she helped import a nuclear weapon into the States and covered up a death caused by their son. When the future of Humankind is under threat instead of convening his advisers David only asks the advice of one other person - his little brother Wayne. They have whispered conversations as if they are afraid their parents might hear them. Meanwhile, Jack has got Kim a desk job at CTU to keep her safe. He is more protective of her than ever and is struggling to accept that she can now make her own decisions. He is now working alongside a young field agent called Chase, a younger version of himself. I didn't enjoy the first few episodes, The plot is so far fetched it is almost as if the writers are making it up on the spot, trying to see what they can get away with. When Nina Myers turns up it seems ridiculous and a little lazy. The first few episodes are set in Mexico with Jack undercover trying to prevent a bio-threat. He is entrapping Mexican drug lords who are supposed to be brothers but who look or sound nothing alike. There is a fantastic prison break out scene which is one of the hi-lights of the season. My favourite characters this season were Michelle and Tony. Reiko Aylesworth who plays Michelle is terrific, especially when she leaves the formality of the office. Her curly hair evidently presented a challenge for continuity and you may spot a few mistakes with the styling along the way. I would have liked to see more of Jack, Kiefer Sutherland is so watchable yet he seems to be playing an equal role to the other agents this season. There are many new characters such as Chloe an analyst who seems to be lacking social skills and we say goodbye to a few familiar faces as well. The last few episodes are absolutely superb. I felt quite exhausted just from watching them and absorbing the tension. I will be ordering Season 4. 24 is highly addictive.
