This was bought as a squirrel deterrent and has yet to have seen success in combat. We have always had squirrels around in the garden but have now got a new pair in residence which are extremely destructive. They dig holes in the lawn, two or three a night sometimes, bite off flower heads, pinks being a favourite, bite growing points off bulbs and lillies, eat strawberries and tomatoes and dig into compost of any planted pot.I don't want to trap them - what do you do with a trapped squirrel? - or poison them and I have an air rifle which is too powerful to use as a deterrent even with plastic pellets. I don’t actually want to hurt or injure the squirrels, so a catapult seemed a reasonable solution to make them feel unwelcome – plus it is a bit of nostalgia for the days of my Just William childhood.As catapults go, it is sturdy, the elastic is strong and the pouch a decent size. It is comfortable to hold and after a bit of practice, is reasonable accurate – although I must admit I was better with a catapult last century rather than this.It comes with ceramic balls which give you instant ammo which is useful. The squirrels have tried hard to get into squirrel-proof bird feeders all summer, without any success, and would have been an ideal distance to be pinged but have stayed at distance since the catapult arrived.They have been within range of long distance shots though and although I didn’t hit them, the shots were close enough to spook them and they seem to be seen less often, so perhaps it works, or, as the next door neighbour has been away, perhaps they are anjoying a quieter life next door.As a catapult this works OK, is easy to hold and as long as the pouch is even and your pull back evenly, as with any catapult, it is reasonably accurate, accuracy falling off over distance.At full stretch it is more powerful than my needs but does work just as well at lower pulling power. For the price you can’t really go wrong.

Good power and accurate. Unfortunately the rubber breaks after a while and I'm finding it hard to find replacement tubing the right size.

We got this to shoot near (not at!) a rat and a couple of seagulls in our garden that were becoming a nuisance, to scare them off, by firing against the wooden fence to make a loud thwack noise. It worked. It’s good quality and fits nicely in the hand. We ran out of the pellets quite quickly. They’re expensive to buy so now, when the pesky seagull shows its face, we fire a dried red bean in its general direction. Very difficult to aim accurately, however, though that may just be lack of practice.

Excellent unit. The accompanying pellets are very small though - perhaps too small. However the slingshot is perfect for my needs.
