Elderberry is a somewhat underrated plant these days and a lot of people think of it as a weed if they find it growing in their garden, but its health benefits really are extraordinary. It's no coincidence that the berries ripen at the time of year when viruses begin to proliferate. You see birds feasting on it to give themselves a boost in preparation for the harsh months ahead. This juice is so rich and dark, it reminds me of something from a fairy tale. The flavour may be an acquired taste, to say the least, and it's difficult to get it down kids but it is worth persevering because the virus-fighting properties are not a myth. I usually mix it with lemonade and find it quite enjoyable but even if I didn't I think I would still force it down because unlike all commercially available cold and flu preparations, it won't shred your stomach lining or act against your body in any way. Personally, I find this way more effective than the concentrated elderberry medicine you can buy, which is just another example of pharmaceutical companies trying, and failing, to cash in by 'improving' on something that nature has already perfected.This juice is probably the closest you can get to going out and picking wild elderberries yourself and although it seems expensive, you don't need much so it lasts for ages. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

I bought this as I was trying to make drinking water more palatable (without adding cordial). It’s tasteless and horrible in water unfortunately, but…I brew my own water kefir (very simple to do, just water kefir grains, filtered water and sugar) which is quite pleasant in its own but thought I’d add this elderberry juice to it, instead of throwing it away. Oh my goodness! It’s like drinking a sparkling sweet wine! Absolutely delicious! I shall continue buying this for my water kefir.

Read a research paper from a small study highlighting the potential health benefits of elderberry juice. It’s expensive, doesn’t smell good and tastes like regurgitated stomach acid. I just hope the research is correct to make it worth it.

It wasn't a clinical trial, we're both former Registered Nurses and our nutrition is top notch, we also had Limeflower Blossom aka Linden Flowers to clear our chests and strong honey, but it made a difference.If you have any leftover to use before the 5 days, you can freeze ice cubes of it.We have them in Lemon and Lime mineral waters, very Summery!
