Q: Where is this manufactured?

It is made in PRC whereever that is probably China, it is distributed by Snowpak. Hope the helps.

Q: Do you know where we could get a new gear for this shredder?

I don't know, mine broke down after a week so I sent it back to Amazon. I then brought the Amazon Basics and it is the best shredder I have seen http://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-12-Sheet-Cross-Cut-Shredder-Shred/dp/B0079JM3LO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1421677870&sr=8-6&keywords=shreddersIf yours is reasonably new I would send it back to Amazon and buy the Amazon Basics one.

Q: How often does the shredder need to be oiled?

I had my Swordfish for about 3 weeks before it broke, oiled it frequently as I was doing some shredding of old documents but the machine kept overheating amd I was only using 2 sheets 80gsm paper at a time, absolute rubbish, got a replacement same thing happened, returned for refund. Save your money buy a cheapo and bin it if it breaks, I bought an Aurora AS800CD which works far better and never even overheated yet. Nil stars for Swordfish.

Q: Can it cope with cardboard?

I only use it to shred occasional paperwork. However the instruction booklet says it can take up to 10 sheets of 80 gsm A4 paper, but adds that after 3 minutes should be allowed to cool down or it cuts out and can't be restarted for 50 minutes. Why would you want to shred card anyway? Your local council should recycle cardboard, or at least put it in General Waste. My advice is just use it for a few sheets paper at a time.
