I am on the fence with this
*UPDATE*Well, it’s splintering. Thankfully my dog knows not to eat or swallow the splinters of wood. Keep an eye out on your dog when they chew this. Could be very dangerous if not monitored. I would take this away when you’re not home. So much for it being a safe option. Tossed it in the trash. Took all the stars away for this.I am on the fence with this. My dog is a huge stick chewer when he is outside. It makes a mess and I've had to assist with removing a stick that was caught in the bridge of his mouth when eating sticks in the yard. I saw someone at work on dog day have something like this (different brand), and i looked in to this. It will not splinter like a typical piece of wood, however there will be small chunks and small bits that do. To be expected I guess, so my dog has done that thing where they open their mouth and hack a few times chewing this. Any of the pieces they do gnaw off combined with their saliva then makes a small brown paste like substance that will harden when it dries. If you have any cloth or fabric or blankets around where they chew, expect them to get all over it. Overall, my dog chews it here and there, it’s not their favorite chew toy, but it’s a current choice. There is no smell, and it’s not one of those toys that last 2-3 days, you'll be tripping over this for months! Its rather hard, but light and doesn't get jagged edged when chewed like those plastic style ones do. so I am on the fence as I mentioned earlier, it makes a mess, they still "hack" when chewing these and its gonna be another trip hazard! haha.

Who needs plastic when you can have wood chew toys?
I have a 75 lb Doodle with a very strong chee drive. She had cut her gums on the hard edges she'd createby chewing gashes in the plastic. Unfortunately, this happened with the plastic chews several times before I discovered this natural wood chew toy. This is GREAT! She can chew on it to get that high level of intensity she craves without the pain of hurting her mouth. They are solid enough to take the force she gives, and last for weeks as she rotates through different toys. When she does break pieces off, they are very small and squishy, and usually fall apart like pulpbwhen I rub them between my thumb and finger. And... no microplastics. And no glue. And I just bought 2 more to have around the house for her!

What can I chew next?
I have a puppy who was bringing all & any wood that would fit through her pet door from our deck. I thought this would also help with the items on the house made if wood that she had taken a liking to! So now she has her own piece of wood to destroy & it's a good size!

Dog safe
I have a heavy chewer so he went to town on this. He did damage it pretty quickly and I took it away to feel for splinters. As advertised when I felt it I did not get any splinters that could hurt them. The only toys that survive with him are the 100% nylon and this will last a lot longer than any of the non-nylon toys. Both my pups love to play with this, though you will have to clean up wood chips after if you have a heavy chewer like me. When they're done with this one I plan to get more.

Dangerous. It’s too soft and splinters easier than a regular stick.
If I could give zero stars I would. Absolute trash do not waste your money. Photo shows the splinters came off within 5 minutes of getting the stick. It’s more flimsy and soft than a regular stick he finds on the ground. Terribly dangerous. Do t waste your money. Literally go take any stick from outside and give it to your dog and it would be safer.
